Summary

While Ieyasu can use the curious power of a soulpact to shapeshift, he only came to Alberia to spread New Year's cheer to another nation. For some reason, however, Botan has a bone to pick with him. Before they come to blows, a voice rings out to stop them.

You're finished! GYAAAAH! And with that, the task is complete. Uh, Euden? Did he...? Shapeshift? Yes, Ranzal. He did. Good people of Alberia, I pray you were unharmed by those horrid fiends? We're fine—thanks to your assistance. But if I may, who ARE all of you? Permit me to formally introduce myself. I am Ieyasu of Hinomoto, leader of one of the Twelve Wyrmclans. These are my attendants, Addis and Sazanka. Hey. It gladdens me to make your acquaintance. Then you must be the people Botan told us about. Botan? PREPARE YOURSELF! Muh?! Why have YOU come here?! To interfere with you, buddy! Now get your butt back to Hinomoto! You'd raise a hand against your master? Seems like a good way to lose it. Stay of out this, you! Okay, everyone just calm down. Indeed, it will not do to make a scene in front of the very people to whom we are attempting to show hospitality. Sorry. Hospitality? Indeed! The providing of hospitality is extremely important in our culture, and so we have come from Hinomoto in order to deliver fortune and cheer. Your castle is really quite wonderful. A splendid edifice. Thank you. It's quite an honor to be praised by a foreign leader. On the contrary, we are grateful for the kindness you have shown after we so suddenly appeared at your door. Though I must admit, I was rather shocked to learn that someone from another land could also form pacts with dragons. I share in your surprise; never did I think to find another royal line with a power similar to our soulpacts. So "soulpact" is your term for what we call a dragonpact, yes? Just so. In our land, soulpacts are permitted for the shogun and heads of the Wyrmclans alone. So are you this shogun guy, then? No, I am but a candidate for the position. At the moment, I merely lead one of the Twelve Wyrmclans. The successor family is comprised of twelve branches, and the heads of each are candidates to become shogun. Guess that's why you call yourselves the Twelve Wyrmclans. You have the right of it. Also, it may interest you to know that the duty of the Twelve Wyrmclans is threefold. First, we fight to protect Hinomoto using the power granted us by the soulpact. Second, we govern our various territories. And third, we are responsible for the festivals honoring Amaterasu. And so, we have come to this land in order to hold the largest of said festivals, which is a celebration of the new year. Ah, so that's what you meant when you said you'd come to deliver fortune. Indeed, for in Hinomoto, New Year's Day is one where Amaterasu brings luck and cheer to all of our people. At some point in time, it was decided that this fortune should be shared with all, and not merely kept for ourselves. And that job fell to Master Ieyasu and the other heads of the Twelve Wyrmclans. Allow me to speak plain: We wish to deliver New Year's greetings and share our celebration of the holiday with those from other lands. In that case, we'd be happy to have you. Hmph! I'm bringing my own fun New Year, so they don't need YOURS! You were doin' just fine sittin' over there all quiet-like earlier. You must really wanna be cut down. Ha! Like I'm scared of you. What'd you say?! Enough, both of you. Fine, I'll back off—but only if you go back home and let ME handle the hospitality here! It's gonna be WAY better than whatever those stiff old Wyrmclans do!
