Summary

The one who stopped the fight was Shishimai, a sprightly dragon who accompanied Ieyasu. Despite this, Botan and Ieyasu's struggle quickly turns into a competition to see who can provide the best hospitality, forcing the party to go into town and pick up supplies.

NO FIGHTING! Wh-what was that?! Fighting is wrong. Bad humans! Bad! Did we just get yelled at by a talking doll? *sniff* *sniff* Wait. This is...a dragon? Ooo, sounds like it's time for intros! *ahem* I am Shishimai the dragon, attendant to Ieyasu. I'm known as the keeper of good fortune, and it's myyyyy PLEASURE to meetcha! ...Heh, nailed it. Shishimai, eh? Like me, our dragon companion hails from Hinomoto, and has come to spread good fortune and cheer to all. A dragon? SURE DON'T LOOK LIKE ONE! Oof... Gya! I forgot to mutter the quiet part'a that! Major oof... Aw, there's no way I'm ever gonna be like Marishiten... Marishiten? Wait, isn't that Ieyasu's...? You know it! Marishiten's the dragon that forged a soulpact with Master Ieyasu. She's known as the dragon of battle, and she's super-de-DUPER powerful! It is said the strength of Marishiten is enough to best ten thousand fighting men. Her gallant figure is seen as an omen of victory in battle, as those under her protection are guaranteed to remain free from all harm. Wow. This dragon sounds legit! Oh, Marishiten is just the COOLEST. I wanna become a super rad dragon like her someday! Yeah, yeah, we get that you wanna be like this Marishiten cat—but what's that got to do with ya bein' here? I came here to stop the fight! Who's fighting? I'm just laying down some TRUTH! And the truth is that my hospitality is gonna be about a ZILLION levels more amazing than Ieyasu's. Are you mad? Master Ieyasu's hospitality is the greatest anywhere, and everybody knows it! Nuh-uh! Mine is! Wrong! THEY'RE FIGHTING AGAAAAIN! Look, guys, rather than standing here "nuh-uhing" each other to death, why not just have it out? You mean a duel to the death?! Not...exactly? Look, this hospitality deal is clearly important to you guys, so why not actually BE hospitable and see who comes out on top? That's a great idea! Plus, we'd get to enjoy the fruits of that little contest, yeah? A hospitality face-off sounds like a rather fascinating experiment. I don't know if I'm comfortable being the recipient of this contest. Aw, it'll be fine! Where we come from, New Year's is all ABOUT hospitality! It's customary for us to eat soba noodles on New Year's Eve, and a number of traditional small dishes called "osechi" on the day itself.
