Summary

After the first bout with Shishimai, Ieyasu and Botan get in an argument where she attempts to make him step down from his position of leadership and restore their old friendship. When it doesn't work, she storms off in a huff, forcing the others to track her down.

We're back—and we made a KILLING! These New Year's gifts are pretty great. Talk about the perfect way to start a year off right! Shishimai and I could not be happier that you enjoyed the proceedings. Forgive me, but is it really all right for us to take this much? Of course. You earned it by the sweat of your own brows. Master Ieyasu cooked up this game so you might accept his gifts more easily, after all. We are beyond grateful. That's just how Master Ieyasu rolls when it comes to hospitality! So hey, what was that you did earlier when you suddenly grew larger? Oh, that? Yeah, I can't carry the basket full of gifts if I don't get big. So I had Amaterasu cast a spell that lets me get real big on the Kagura Stage. Preeeeetty amazing, right?! What is this Amaterasu's story, anyway? She seems to have a nearly limitless supply of talents. She's, like, the hugest and most distinguished dragon of Hinomoto. Yes, I figured that part out already. Yeah, make with some details! Right? I mean, she gave you so many New Year's gifts that you couldn't even carry 'em without growing! Hey, not to change the subject or anything, but how'd it go between Addis and Botan? *pant* *pant* *pant* *pant* Shishimai? What was the result? Welp, it looks like the winners were Euden and his crew! Which means THOSE two ended in a draw. Nope! I'm not buying it! We SPECIFICALLY did this in order to determine a winner and loser. The result is the result. Accept it with grace, Botan. Besides, what really matters is how much our new friends are enjoying themselves. Victory and defeat are secondary to the satisfaction we provide through our gift of hospitality. Secondary...? SECONDARY?! Botan? Beating YOU is what's important to me! It's all that MATTERS! I don't understand, Botan. Why are you so dead-set on defeating Ieyasu? Because I want him to step down from leading his Wyrmclan, okay?! What?! If I provided better hospitality than Ieyasu, it would mean he failed at his mission, right? I'm sure he'd resign after that. Someone who would abandon his friends has no place as a Wyrmclan leader. What are you talking about? It is as she says: The day I became a Wyrmclan leader, I ended our friendship. To be honest, I never expected us to be talking like this again. Yeah, but here we are. So why?! Why did you DO THAT TO ME?! Is it because I'm just some commoner? Because our social positions are different? If that's the case, make me a guard like those other toadies who serve you! I thought you were happy to have a childhood friend that didn't treat you like some kind of nobleman. How can you now use that same social standing to cast her aside? If she were to be at my side, she would come to regret it above all else. Thus, before something truly regrettable happened, I judged it better for both of us to end the relationship. You don't think the two of you could overcome that regret together? I mean, you can't be happy seeing her so upset, can you? ...... Your Highness, we should hurry after her. She's right. Hell, that crazy kid might decide to charge a fiend nest again! Ah, but she is a handful. I must be certain to give her a stern lecture once we are finally able to track her down. Very well—I shall attempt to locate Botan. Will you aid me in this? Of course we will! Let's all split up and start looking for her. HAAAH! Come at me, fiends! Just you wait! I'll kill a million of you and PROVE that I'm strong! You're so heartless, Ieyasu! I bet it'd be different if I were from a military family like Sazanka... Then I'd be able to serve you... I hate that we can't be friends because of where we happened to be born... I hate it so much... GRAAAGH! Huh? HYAAAGH! Owww... Oh man, I didn't think there were fiends THAT big in this forest. Uh oh.
