Summary

The party visits a village where a fiend has appeared demanding sacrifices. But this fiend has a legendary Qilin relic called the Jin Gu Er. The party is defeated once by the relic's overwhelming power, but hearing Xuan Zang's resolve sets them back on the fiend's trail.

Dialogue

Oh man, the sun's set already? Guess we're sleeping on rocks again. While I'm quite accustomed to camping outdoors, doing it this many days in a row is proving to be rather arduous. Well, if I ain't mistaken, there's a village just ahead. If Lady Luck smiles on us, we might be able to find a couple'a rooms and a hot meal. Oh, that would be wonderful! Then let's make one last push to that village!

Glad we made it here before the sun dropped for good. ...And there's a villager right now. Hey! Buddy! You know where to get a bed and some grub around here?! Wh-who are you?! Just a band of weary travelers lookin' for a soft pillow. I mean no offense, travelers, but you'd best be gone from this place at once. But we just GOT here! C'mon, you gotta have an inn or something. Heck, I'll even take a barn if the straw is clean. Today is not the day for such things. What does that mean? Xuan Zang! I sense a Qilin relic approaching us at speed! What?! Graaaaargh! It's a fiend! That fiend is in possession of the relic! Oh no... I know that relic... I WILL HAVE SACRIFICE I DEMAND SACRIFICE S-Sacrifices?! IF I AM DENIED SACRIFICE I WILL LAY WASTE TO ALL I'm...I'm the sacrifice! Take me and go! The hell is going on here?! If we do not offer a sacrifice, the entire village is doomed! Well, I ain't gonna let this stand. Looks like it's killin' time. I'm getting a seriously weird feeling from this thing, master. You are sensing the relic's power. However... O power universal! Crown of heaven! Power of hundreds, skill of thousands! By your gold I bind thee! Graaaargh! It's working! Graaaaaagh! Urk... AAAAAUUUGH! MASTER! I couldn't...hold back the relic's power... YOU DENY ME SACRIFICE NOW I DESTROY ALL I told you, I will be your sacrifice! COME TO ME COME TO ME COME TO ME *sniffle* I'm so sorry. There was no other way. What in the world is going on here? For a while now, that fiend has been appearing and demanding a sacrifice. If we refuse, it threatens to lay waste to our entire village. So we...we agree. I ain't down with the idea of sacrificin' people, but I also get that a buncha villagers can't stand up to that thing. Indeed, its power was astounding. We must find a way to stop it. It is the Jin Gu Er. Sorry? The fiend held a Qilin relic. That relic is called the Jin Gu Er. Even among Qilin relics, it possesses a strength that is nothing short of legendary. That is...not good. I'm sorry, everyone, but the time has come for us to part ways. What?! Why?! I am a sealer. I cannot abandon my duty to find Qilin relics, no matter how dangerous the task may be. However, I cannot ask all of you to accompany me on this mission. Aw, come on! Thus, we must part ways. I can't let you do that, Xuan Zang; you aren't the only one with a duty here. It is my duty to protect this kingdom and all the people within it. This village is under attack—people are being dragged from their very homes. I will not stand by and see that happen. ...I see.
