Summary

The prince and his friends meet Xuan Zang of the Qilin tribe. Along with her pupil, Wu Kong, and the dragon Yulong, she is on a journey to seal away dangerous antique relics. Once they learn the danger such relics pose, the party sets off for a nearby Qilin village.

Graaargh! Good thing we showed up when we did. I heard the fiends here were outta control, but this is nine kinds'a batcrap! Are you all right, Ranzal?! Hey, no worries about ol' me! Just got distracted there for a second. Come on, everyone! Push! Haaaaaah! Graaaaa! These are no normal fiends; I sense a great power lurking within them. Right?! Ya cut 'em, ya stab 'em, and they don't seem to give a damn. I might as well be fightin' air! The heck is going ON here?! We won't get anywhere at this rate. But we can't just ignore these fiends! Please stand aside! What?! Who's— O power universal! Dispel the false faces of these fiends, and grant us the ability to strike fair and true! Aarrrooogh! I know not what that woman did, but our attacks appear to be landing now. We can figure out the details later. Let's finish this! STOOOP! Okay, now what?! My master said to stand aside, yeah? Just hang back. I shan't be disappointed, should you entrust the situation to her. Encircle their bodies, O fetters! Seal them with all haste! Aarrugh... Niiiiiice! You're the best, master! The fiends...disappeared? Wait, so they WERE illusions? Man, I am so confused right now... Oh, they were no illusion. Rather, they were the product of a Qilin relic. Oooooh, riiiiight! Now I get it! ...Wait, no. I don't get ANYTHING. Aw, don't worry about it. Your little brains would probably leak outta your ears if we tried to explain it to you. Those selected to be sealers are the most amazing people you can imagine, even among the Qilin! That's enough boasting, Wu Kong. It's not boasting if it's TRUE, master! Sheesh, you really are an old stick-in-the-mud sometimes. And such power comes with responsibility, hence why I continue to attempt to teach you discipline. You cannot possibly hope to handle the Qilin relics otherwise. Tch! Aw, c'mon! Not this again! You know I can handle those relics! So, uh, we're a little in the dark on this whole "relic sealer" thing. Yes, of course. Put simply, there are a number of ancient artifacts that contain great and frightening powers. We call these artifacts "Qilin relics." I have heard rumors of these relics. They are said to hold a vast number of mysterious capabilities. However, even though the relics can be a boon to society, they become profoundly dangerous when misused. Those fiends you couldn't put a dent in earlier were created by a Qilin relic. If these relics can MAKE fiends, they are even more dangerous than your description implied. Which is why we sealers are charged with seeking out and neutralizing them. We've come from waaaaay out east, stopping here and there to snatch up any relics we find. We were actually just on our way to a Qilin village in Alberia to seal up a few of the relics we gathered. There is a Qilin village in Alberia?! How come I ain't never heard of it?! It is no surprise you are unaware of its existence, for Qilin use the power of the relics to hide their villages from outsiders. *snicker* Yeah, she means bozos can't see it! Aaaah ha ha ha ha! I'm gonna use yer head for a punchin' bag! Uh oh! Did I touch a nerve? Wu Kong. Sorry master, but the library is open and I am READING this blockhead here. I'll get back to you in juuust a— WU KONG. If these Qilin relics are doing such things in my homeland, I want to learn more about them. He has a point. Yeah, I got no interest in fightin' a buncha fiend ghosts again. The choice is yours, Xuan Zang. Would you mind? I suppose that would be all right. Whaaaaat?! But you said we aren't supposed to tell people too much about the relics... It is the duty of a sealer to ensure not only that the relics are properly taken care of, but also that any chaos caused by them is dispelled from the world. As such, it could be argued that teaching those who fight for the good of the people more about their existence and abilities is also a sealer's duty. Furthermore...I have a feeling we can trust these people. I appreciate it. Thank you. However! Be warned that the journey ahead will be a harsh one.
