Summary

With their workshop moved to the Halidom, the blacksmith sisters have but one regret: They have yet to resolve things with their rival, a rokkan blacksmith named Lazry. To finish the matter, the sisters decide to forge a sword for entry in the Golden Anvil competition.

Dialogue

Some time after the three blacksmith sisters relocate their workshop to the Halidom... ...Okay, that's the one hundred arrows that you ordered. Don't imagine there'll be any issues there, but look 'em over and make sure you're happy. Ha! You gals are next-level fast as always. We're very fortunate you agreed to join us here at the castle. Have you gotten used to life here yet? Please be sure to let me know if you run into any problems. Hee hee! Nah, we're all right as rain. Right, ladies? Yeah, I suppose? I mean, it's safe here, and we've got plenty of work, so... I really shouldn't complain... Hmm? Now, now, don't go fibbing, Ramona. Huh?! What are you talking about? I'm not... I mean, I'm just... You know, I hear Lazry is entering the Golden Anvil competition. Wait, LAZRY'S entering?! Sorry, who is Lazry? She's a rokkan blacksmith and somethin' of a... Well, call her a professional rival. A rokka? Damn! Everyone knows they're the best smithies around—I wouldn't wanna go toe-to-toe with them in a business, I tell ya what. Tell me about it—we were CONSTANTLY bleeding customers to her workshop. It was sooooo annoying. Even though Dad's techniques are WAY better than hers—or anyone's! Yeah, so I guess I DO sorta have an issue, now that I think about it. I mean, I don't regret movin' the shop, but I DO regret leavin' things unfinished with Lazry. But now I know what to do: We're gonna enter the Golden Anvil and whip her up but good! Thanks for tellin' me about Lazry, Rena. Anything for my adorable baby sister. Well, if we're gonna enter this thing, we'd better have a killer weapon ready! Maybe we go with a battle-axe? Somethin' that big is sure to stand out. Plus, its size means it takes serious heat and muscle to make a good one. It's a good test of smithing fundamentals. I think we should forge a blade. Such sharp edges and gorgeous finishes are the fundamentals of blacksmithing. If we're all worried about "fundamentals," then we totally should make a dagger. Daggers are the BEST. A smith who can't make a dagger is no smith at all! It's like they say: "He who laughs at the dagger, cries by the dagger!" Do they REALLY say that...? Well, in any case, the three of you want to compete by showing off your mastery of the fundamentals, right? Yep—which means making some flashy stabber with a buncha bells and whistles just to please the crowd is the wrong way to go about things. Renee is right. You only get top quality by devotin' yourself to the fundamentals. That's the legacy we inherited from Dad. Well then, what kind of weapon did your father specialize in? Hell, Dad could make ANYTHING— but I guess he was at his best when he was workin' on a good sword. Indeed. Dad's swords were strong, gorgeous, and keen as a razor's edge. Then forge a sword to make him proud and enter it in the Golden Anvil. That will prove once and for all that you're his worthy successors! *gasp* Er, did I say something wrong? No—you said somethin' RIGHT! There's no better goal for us than forgin' a sword to make Dad proud. 'Cause if we're gonna be the best smiths around, we can't just follow in Dad's footsteps—we gotta SURPASS him! Don't just talk about "surpassing" Dad like that, Renee! Come now, we'll need that kind of energy and confidence to make a sword worthy of the Golden Anvil! Right then, listen up! Here's what I think the sword should look like... Nah, that'll never work. I think we should try somethin' more like... Ooo, I can't wait to see what we make!
