Summary

After the prince's party slays the Dreadking, they learn that Fatalis was actually responsible for attacking the native dragons. With this knowledge in hand, the party enters the space between worlds to end its reign of terror.

We've got it on the ropes now! Now! Push! *pant* *pant* Holy hell, that was tough... I almost feel bad for the thing. If not for Sarisse, I think this story would have a much sadder ending. Yeah, but if you guys hadn't rebounded to lend me a hand, I'd be a crispy critter. So were you ALSO running around after the Dreadking or what? Yeah, I drove it away when it went after a nearby village, then chased it up here. Then you faced the Dreadking before? No wonder you were able to read its attacks with such skill. Still, to think you would take that beast on alone... You and Luca clearly share a spirit when it comes to such things. Er, that's a compliment, right? You know what? Never mind that. Let's just talk about my sis's duds! Aren't they the best? According to the folks on the Soaratorium, this armor is made from a monster called a Mizutsune. Guess that's what they mean when they say "clothes make the man." I'm not a man, you dope! Also, are you implying I'm nothing without this armor?! What a jerk! Hrrrrgh! Ow! Hey, knock it off with the punching! I meant it as a compliment! We just had the fight of our lives and these two are already back to sibling squabbles. Nya?! Have you actually slain the Dreadking?! What is this place? It is the Dreadking's nest. I stumbled upon it quite by accident after being blown this way by the explosion. I've been analyzing it ever since, and the evidence confirms my working theory. What theory is that? That the culprit behind the attack on your dragon was not, in fact, the Dreadking. What?! Dreadkings generally have little interest in other species, unless they perceive their own territory to be under attack. And seeing as how the woods where the attacks took place are quite far from this nest, I found it odd that the Dreadking would have strayed so far. That lumberjack said our dragon got carried off by somethin', yeah? Indeed he did—and yet there is no sign of it ever being in this place. Yeah, but maybe the Dreadking just... I dunno. Ate it already? Which is why I examined the Dreadking's dung. Alas, I found no such remains. Okay, super gross, but let's all just skip past that and never speak of it again. But also, didn't folks say they were being attacked by a black dragon? Which we assumed to be the Dreadking. However, now that I think on it, "black dragon" is a rather generic description. So you think there are multiple black monsters on the prowl? Correct—the Dreadking that attacked the people near here, and a DIFFERENT monster that carried off your dragon. Soooo...what's the other monster? Euden! There you are! Vanessa? Berserker? I thought the two of you were off on an investigation. Come with us to the eastern lake! Hurry! Eastern Lake
An otherworld tear! Oh no... Was that roar from Fatalis?! I fear so. Near as we can tell, Fatalis carried our dragon through the rift. So THAT'S the other monster what's been causin' all the trouble! This sequence of appearances cannot be mere coincidence; Fatalis must somehow be CREATING these rifts. But even the wildest of legends do not tell of Fatalis possessing such a skill. Perhaps the space between worlds has affected it somehow. Regardless of why or how it's happening, we need to put an end to it. And we need to do it fast, before this whole world dries up and blows away! Then count me in, fur-iend. I'll pay that monster back double this time! Right. Let's put an end to Fatalis for good!
