Proof that critical damage multiplier is higher than 1.5, likely around 1.7

Video shows Ezelith running Avenue of Fortune until the boss enters overdrive. Ezelith is equipped only with the basic dagger and One with the Shadows for increased critical chance. Ezelith has 555 strength. Nothing that boosts critical damage is equipped. Only the first attack of her attack chain was used during the run.
Video shows basic attack damage ranging from 65 to 72 and criticals ranging from 112 to 123. If the critical multiplier was 1.5, it would be impossible to crit for more than 109 damage given that the maximum damage observed for a normal hit was 72. Therefore the critical multiplier must be higher than 1.5.
Narrowing down the exact critical multiplier is a bit trickier, as this video doesn't present a large enough sample size to claim exact numbers. First of all, it doesn't prove that the observed damage ranges cannot be larger than observed here. For example, it might very well be possible to crit for 111 or 124 damage under these conditions, but I wasn't lucky enough to observe them during any of my testing runs.
Now, if we assume two things, we can estimate lower and upper bounds for the critical multiplier:
- We assume that the observed damage ranges are actually the maximum possible ranges.
- We assume that damage is represented internally as a float number and is rounded to the nearest integer when it is shown. This means that damage values between 64.5-65.5 can result in critical hits of 111.5-112.5 and damage values 71.5-72.5 can result in critical hits of 122.5-123.5.
Based these assumptions, on the lower end it means that the critical multiplier has an upper bound of 112.5/64.5 ≈ 1.74 (because if it was any higher, it would be impossible to crit as low as 112), and a lower bound of 111.5/65.5 ≈ 1.70 (because if it was any lower, we should be observing crits of 111 or lower). On the upper end of observed values, we have 123.5/71.5 ≈ 1.73 and 122.5/72.5 ≈ 1.69 respectively. Merging these two ranges means that the critical multiplier is somewhere in the range of 1.70-1.73 according to this data.
In conclusion, it was proven that the 1.5 critical multiplier is incorrect. Additionally, with the data presented, I suggest that the actual critical multiplier is likely to be approximately 1.7. Spawwvy (talk) 16:26, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
Event effects?
How do the "event effects" granted by certain facilities factor into this calculation? For example, the Circus Tent facility has an event effect which says: "Boosts Damage dealt to enemies in 'Dream Big Under the Big Top' quests by X%"
