Sweating to death in armor isn't an especially appealing option, so I shall guard in this suit.

I came to love birds through my time in the White Sparrows, so I always pick up bird souvenirs when I see them.

This day is the reward for all the months I spent toiling away at my duties. I have a brand-new set of swimwear, and a perfect beach lying in front of me. Here I go! It's a full-tilt sprint straight into the beautiful blue ocean!

OKAY, WHAT THE HELL?! Gyaargh! Eeeek! Save me, my apple dumpling! There are nasty fiends strewn across this entire beach! This is truly a sad day for beachgoing, my berry buckle. Let's go back to town at once and find a less risky vacation. Grargh! Raaaargh! Berry Buckle is right—this beach is crammed to the gills with fiends! I know not what is causing this, but as a knight, I cannot stand by and do nothing. Time to deal with this problem. Haaaah! Gyaaargh... Seems they're not much threat one-on-one. You're all from the Halidom! Barbary is the name of a fiend who was once a pirate in this area. After everyone helped put her in her place and I gave her a stern talking-to, she swore to give up piracy and violence. As she is deathly afraid of having to sit through another of my lectures, she's been keeping to her word thus far. But it looks like she found a loophole: If she challenges foes to beach volleyball, she can use nonviolent means to take down her enemies with impunity. Take her enemies down... with volleyball? Do not take her challenge lightly! Barbary has six arms and legs, so her ball-handling capabilities are on a whole other level. She used this strategy to eliminate her competition and take over the beach. After she took down the reigning volleyball champ, all the other locals refused to go near her. They've been searching the land trying to find players who can hold their own against her, but all to no avail—until the three of us showed up, that is. ...... ...Why do we actually have to play her, though? When one has been challenged by the ball, one must WIN by the ball! Oh. Right. As we already sent Barbary packing once, the locals thought we could do it again. In fact, we were in the process of searching for one final teammate. What do you say, Patia? Will you join our cause? And you're SURE this has to be volleyball. We can't just...you know? Crush our enemies and drive them before us? Such a strategy ill befits a knight!  ! Well, I suppose it WOULD be bad form to stick a lance in someone during a volleyball match... I'm starting to feel you have a point. We must win by the ball. Then are you saying...? I am. Let's do this! As a White Sparrow, I shall not be outdone by my enemies—whether by sword, lance, spike-covered doom axe, or volleyball! We will defeat them and return peace to the beach—and THEN I will finally be able to take my damned vacation! Huzzah! The next morning, at the net...

A Skill of Legend

Patia and her fellow Halidom pals took on the
beach-hogging boss of fiends, Barbary, in a
spirited game of beach volleyball. Alas, they
suffered a crushing defeat under the villain's
brutal six-limbed assault.
Afterward, our heroes held a team huddle to
debrief and discuss strategies for how best to
spike the pirate off their beloved beach.
We just need to work on our prideful attitudes and lack of skill. Yes, it appears that beach volleyball is far deeper than we first thought. This game demands pure strength. And yet Barbary's impenetrable defense combined with the constant barrage of spikes from her six limbs is staggering. So we simply need to get STRONGER! We'll train and train until our power is surpassed by no one and nothing! I don't think we can brute force our way into victory; technique and teamwork will be necessary as well. It's an overwhelming task, and I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to begin. Good thing I know someone who can help! If I recall, she's in a nearby town...
