- Shishimai is the romanized Japanese name for the Lion Dance, a traditional dance often performed during the Chinese New Year. Two dancers control a large lion costume, the front dancer controlling the face and front legs, while the rear dancer controls the back legs. Shishimai's design is based on one of these lion costumes.
