- Nobunaga is loosely based on the real-life warlord Oda Nobunaga, the first of the three "Great Unifiers" during the Sengoku era of Japan.
- Nobunaga being Flame-attuned in Dragalia Lost may be a reference to the real-life Nobunaga's death at Honno-ji temple. One of his generals, Akechi Mitsuhide, betrayed him by leading a large part of Nobunaga's army to lay siege to the temple while Nobunaga was resting inside it. Additionally, his forces set the temple on fire to lessen the chance of escape. This lead Nobunaga to commit suicide, rather than be captured or killed by the traitors.
