I've Had It!

This has gotta be the castle everyone in the forest was talking about... Okay then, here goes! Eh? What's a little girl like you doing out here all by yerself? Hey! I'm old enough to be out on my own! Uh, Ranzal? Who's the kid? No idea. She was just wanderin' around outside the castle. I think she's lost. I'm not lost—I'm here to complain! Er, did we do something to offend you? Don't play dumb, unless you wanna make me madder than I already am! You built this big stupid castle here, and it scared all the forest animals! *growl* That sounded like your stomach. Are you hungry? Um...n-no, I am NOT hungry! Stop trying to change the subject! Sorry! Sorry. ...It's just that Cleo baked some cookies earlier, so if you ARE hungry, we could eat some while we finish talking. COOKIES?! ...I mean, um, I guess I could have one. Or three. Or a dozen. But only to be polite! And it's gonna take more than cookies to make me stop being mad! Got it?! ...Ohmigosh, look at all the cookies! Can I really eat as many as I want?! Euden, who is this? Apparently she came to complain to us about something. She was really angry. *munch* *crunch* Thefe are fo good! She doesn't look angry to me. These cookies are so yummy, lady! Did you make 'em yourself? I did—and far too many, at that. Please take as many as you'd like. Hee hee! This place is the BEST! I'm so glad I decided to come here! I walked aaaall the way here by myself, you know. From Granny's house! But I got soooo hungry on the way... And this is normally my nap time, so then I got kinda...kinda sleepy... That sounds like quite the adventure. So what was that complaint you wanted to talk to us about, anyway? zzzzz... It seems she couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. Heh. Well, I suppose whatever she wanted to complain about can wait.

I'm Here to Complain

Back again, eh, Maribelle? Well, this is yer lucky day—Cleo just pulled a fresh batch'a scones outta the oven. Ooo, that sounds yummy! I...I mean, I'm not here for scones, mister! I'm here to complain! Where's Euden?! I'm gonna yell at him if it's the last thing I do today! Bwa ha! Yer a little firecracker, ain't ya? All right, I'll go get him. But ya might as well have a scone while ya wait, yeah? Hello again, Maribelle. Care for a scone? Yes, please! ...But that's not why I'm here! I'm only having a snack while I wait to complain! I understand. Are you thirsty? I could make you some tea, or perhaps see if we have any cold milk. Yes, please! ...Oh, did I tell you that my granny's teaching me how to bake? One of these days, I'll bring over something yummy for you! That sounds wonderful. I know, right? Oh, and we were making these cookies earlier for practice, and we gave some to the squirrels in the forest— Hello, Mirabelle. Ranzal said you were here. What was it you wanted to— Hey, Euden! So anyway, the squirrels just love cookies with walnuts in 'em, because duh! Squirrels! Oh. That's...very interesting. Is that all you came here to tell us? No, silly! I also wanted to tell you about the new bear I made friends with! And also about how all the little birds are scared of this castle and— HEY! I wanna complain! *snicker* Hey, don't let me stop you. But let's hear it before you get distracted by some random baked good again. Grrr... You're making fun of me for forgetting all the time! I wouldn't dream of it. I actually admire how you come here every day by yourself. When I was your age, I never would have been able to voice my opinion to a room full of adults. Hee hee! Really? 'Cause I was actually kinda nervous at first. But I was also SUPER mad about my friends in the forest, and I knew I had to come here for their sakes! You're a good friend, Maribelle. I'm sorry if our castle scared your friends; that certainly wasn't our intention. You have my sincere apology. Aw, thanks, Euden. Now I'm gonna tell all my friends that they don't need to be scared, because everyone in this castle is SUPER nice! Thank you for forgiving us. Hee hee! Oh, but even if I don't need to complain anymore, I'm still gonna come here and play and eat all Cleo's treats!

Meet My Friends!

Oh, good morning, Maribelle. You're hardly ever here before lunch. I know. But I gotta go reeeeal far today, so I woke up early. Well, be safe out there, okay? Don't be silly. You're coming with me, Euden! C'mon, let's go! Er, and where exactly are we goi— Gya!! You don't need to pull me! I'm coming! I wanna introduce you to all my friends, Euden! No matter how much I tell 'em how nice everyone in the castle is, they just won't listen. So I want 'em to meet you and see for themselves! I guess that explains why we're in the forest. Yep! Normally everyone's around the meadow near the lake. There's this soft breeze there and the flowers smell super good, so it's the perfect spot for a nap. That sounds nice. You really do know a lot about this forest, huh? Oh, yeah! I mean, I've lived here since I was little— raaaaggghhh! Uh-oh. That sounded like a fiend. All the birdies flew off, and the deer are running toward us... They're coming from the meadow! Hey, wait! Don't take off on your own! Leave my friends alone, you big bully! You can't fight that fiend by yourself, Maribelle! Get behind me, everyone! I'll take care of this big stupidhead! Dummies like you don't belong in my beautiful forest! The next time you're mean to my friends, you're gonna pay big-time! Now get outta here and never come back! Maribelle, that was...incredible. Chasing off a fiend with a single blow takes some powerful magic. Yeah, Granny says I'm a mana whiz. Um, did I not mention that? This isn't the first time I've had to use my powers to protect everyone or chase off nasty fiends that attack the forest. I'm sorry I ever thought you needed an adult to look out for you. It's no small feat to protect this forest and all its inhabitants by yourself. Hee hee! I know, right? But someone's gotta protect it, so it might as well be me. I can't just abandon all my friends! Anyway, now that the big jerk's gone, I can introduce you to everybo... Hey, where'd they go?! Heh. I think your magic scared them off. What?! Aw, boo! I was only trying to help!

Episode 4

As Long as I Have My Friends

*munch* ... *crunch* Are these sweets not to your liking, Maribelle? You've barely eaten any. No, they're yummy, Cleo. It's just... You all right, kid? Ya look kinda flushed. I...I do? Oh. Let me feel your forehead. You're burning up! Cleo, make up a bed for her. I'll carry her over. That better, kid? Must feel good to lie down, yeah? If you want anything to eat or drink, or if you need anything else at all, please just let me know. Are you cold? I can bring more blankets. Heh. You're all so nice... Thank you... But this happens all the time... So don't worry... What happens all the time? Well, Granny says there are some people who are really good at using mana but are also super sensitive to it. So sometimes it makes 'em sick... If this was caused by mana, then I'm afraid I have little idea how to treat you. Maribelle, when this happened before, what made you better? Nothin'... *sniff* I just have to wait it out... But sometimes my forest friends would wait with me... That made it easier... That sounds really rough. Yeah... But I can take it if I have all my friends with me... That... That actually makes me a little jealous. Don't you have friends who make stuff better, Euden? I didn't really have anyone I could call a friend when I lived in the royal palace. Just my sister and Notte, I guess, but that was different. Boo... That's sad... Well, I'll make sure you have lots and lots of friends, Euden... That's very kind, Maribelle. Thank you. Hee... I'm gonna sleep now... Night-night...

This place is blanketed in flowers... Maribelle, is this— The meadow, yep! My friends love it here. I didn't get to introduce you last time, so I wanted to try again. ...All right, everyone! Come out, come out, wherever you aaaare! *chirp* *chirp* Look at that. Birds, and squirrels, and deer, and— raawwwrr... Um, that is a REALLY big bear. Are all these animals really your friends? ...Especially the bear? Yep! And now they're your friends too, Euden! Mine? Er, what do you mea— Everyone, meet Euden! He lives in that big scary castle. Um, Maribelle? Are you listening to me? Euden is suuuuper nice, but he doesn't have any friends. So I was hoping all of YOU would be his friends! Is that why you brought me here? So I could make friends? Yep! C'mon, Euden— say hi to everyone! Er...how do I DO that, exactly? Aw, stop thinking about it so much and just say something! Uh, right then... Hi, everyone. It's nice to meet you. Okay, everybody, be nice to him! ...Isn't this great, Euden? Now you won't be lonely anymore! You're absolutely right, Maribelle. Thank you. Hee hee! Yaaaay!
