Summary

The prince's party has failed to slay Fatalis, and the dread Black Dragon is now spreading tragedy across the continent. Just as they begin to despair over their inability to find a way back to Fatalis's nest, they receive word that the Wycademy has learned the monster's secret.

Dialogue

Nyaaa?! Weren't we just fighting Fatalis in the space between worlds?! We were kicked back through the rift when our otherworld fragment ran out of power. And now the damn tear's closed up! But we didn't stop Fatalis, which means it could come rollin' up in here again! Say there, my furry companion. What are you holding? This? It's a Fatalis scale. One of your attacks knocked it loose and I picked it up. Purr-ty cool, isn't it? Might the Wyventurer and I take a closer look at that item? We might be able to learn something from it. I'll get the Halidom scholars to help. If everyone works together, we might find a way to keep Fatalis at bay. We need to do whatever it takes to stop this monster for good! Tamia Village

Nooooo! It's the Empire! Somebody help us! You have all betrayed our glorious empire. Put every last villager to the sword! Hmm? What was that sound?! A b-black dragon! The empress will reward me handsomely if I can slay this beast... All men, turn your blades on that dragon! Gyaaaahhhhh?! The black dragon wiped 'em all out! That dragon is our savior! All hail the village's guardian! She's right! We need to make an offering! Everyone, prepare a feast for our guardian dragon! Bring only the finest— Graaaaaaak! But...but why?! Aaaaaaah! Gyaaaaargh! But wasn't that a good dragon?! It is neither good nor evil, but instead a calamity that befalls all equally. O Ilia, please grant your protection to your most humble servants... ...... By the time the report reached the castle, it was already too late. There was one survivor—a kid what hid in the basement of the church. Physically he's okay, but mentally... Well, he's in for a rough road. Kept muttering somethin' about how a "black dragon" did it. Fatalis! It also struck a port to the east and a city to the west—not to mention the small sylvan settlement to the south. It seems to be striking the Empire as well, and some rumors even place the beast in the far northern lands. If that wasn't enough, we've also got reports of dragons up and vanishing all over the darn place! It's not limited to this continent. Hinomoto, Taiwu, and other nations could be in danger as well. With Fatalis being able to pop in and out of those rifts seemingly at will, there's no way to tell where it might appear next. There's gotta be SOME way to find it! Can't we just use one'a them otherworld fragments and make our own rift? Yes, but those rifts could lead anywhere. We need a way to travel directly to Fatalis's nesting site. Or we just get a bunch'a fragments and crack open as many rifts as it takes! That'd be great if we had a few decades or so to kill, but we don't! I...I don't know what to do. Hey! Prince Euden! What is it? What's wrong? The Wyventurer needs you! He says it's urgent! Why, what happened? We figured it out, that's what! We figured out Fatalis's secret!
