You mean the tournament they use to find the best smithy in the world? Mmm, this is gonna be a tight order; that contest is coming up real soon. But if it's a Smithy Arm you want, then I'll whip one up right away. I just got a new stonetech engine that'll be perfect for the job! Nay, no need. If you're making some kind of machine, you only need engineers. Lazry is a blacksmith, not an engineer. You should let her go. A blacksmith, is it? Interesting. Does that mean you'll let her go? Ha! Not likely. Blacksmiths are being used to make weapons in a different area, so we'll be sending her there. Then it looks like I have no choice... HAAAAAH! Hey! Sit still! Run, Lazry! Go! What?! Oww... Can't believe those men are gonna force that poor engineer to build a weapon. I bet gold to granite they're takin' him to the abandoned mine down the road. I gotta be helpin' him, so I do. He saved me life, and that's a debt I can't let go unpaid. This sounds like a job for me Smithy Arm! With that, I can tunnel into the mine and give the soldiers a proper thrashin'! I feel right low usin' the engineer's workshop without tellin' the man, but I'm sure he'll understand. Right then! Time to get to it! Hmm... So this bit goes here, and this one goes...here? Aye, there she is! Look at the power flow from that stonetech engine! Except I'm not sure how to turn it off? Ach! The engine is runnin' outta control! Lemme just tinker with that... Right then! Sorry, but I've been trying to get your attention for the last five minutes. Your concentration is impressive! Anyway, do you know where the workshop master is? I'm supposed to deliver this. I'm sorry, lass, but he went and got himself captured by the Empire. What? No! Tell me everything! ...So that's why I'm makin' this machine in order to go'n save him. In that case, you must let me help! Er...? Look, that's your prototype, right? Let me examine it. Oh man, this is a MESS! I bet you've never tried to build something like this before, have you? Look, you can't just throw a bunch of existing parts into a complicated machine like this and hope it works out. You have to modify and tune them appropriately! So that was the problem... Aye, it's true! I've no idea what I'm doin'! Leave it to me! I'll make a blueprint with everything clearly labeled. Just modify the parts like it says and you'll be fine! A fine plan indeed! Don't get too excited. Even with a blueprint, the modifications will be a challenge. This job will demand utter precision. Even the tiniest mistake will result in the entire machine collapsing. Aye, she's gonna be a rough one, especially with time so short. It's really a job for a team, but I guess you and I will just have to make do. Oh, I can get ye a team. Ramona and the other lasses would be perfect for this job. I don't know who that is, but great! Bring the whole gang along! Aye, but I do so hate askin' others for help... This is not the time to be like that. If you can get help, then get it! Okay, lass, okay! No need to go twistin' me arm so. So this is rokkan machinery, huh? Well, you can leave it to us! Hee hee! Seriously, Lazry, what's goin' on? You asked for our help, but now you seem all put out that we're here. Aye, sorry, lasses. It's just... Well, I'm not much when it comes to acceptin' help. Ye can't be the world's greatest smith without carryin' your own water. Me granda taught me that, so he did. Wait, so THAT'S why you always work alone? It's some old family tradition? Aye. But listen, Lazry—there's more than one path to being the world's greatest smith. Oh? Yep! Our father was a great smith in his own right, and he gave us a different way. He certainly did. Hmm, this part needs precise detailing, which calls for... A small, concentrated flame! Then I heat just the part we want to modify to soften it, and... Done! All right, you two! It's your time to shine! Lemme just cool that down... ZING! And I will feed it some delicious mana. This is amazing! They're crafting those complicated parts like it's nothing! Aye, I've never seen such teamwork. Well, not since they beat me in the Golden Anvil competition. (I don't think me granda was wrong...) (But the lasses aren't wrong either. Rokkan Rescue Mission

Fitting complete...and she's ready to go. Smithy Arm...activated! Hah! Yah! Aye, but that feels fine, so it does. Me arm swings free'n easy! Right. Movin' on to the next test. Stonetech engine...full power! HAAAAAAH! Holy snot! She just split that boulder in two like it was a pat of warm butter! Aye, and it's all thanks to ye lasses. I'd never have been able to finish such a machine by me lonesome. Exactly! When you work together, your power goes beyond the limits of what any single person can do. Now let's go save that engineer! Hmm? You're comin'? Of course we are! It's all for one and one for all! Nay, lass, I can't allow it. The mission is far too dangerous. Okay, did we not JUST get done going on about how working together makes you stronger than working alone? It's the same for fighting as it is for smithing, so just accept our help already! Aye, you're right. In that case, I thank ye once again. Yes! I think the engineers are bein' held in this mine. Wait, look! The entrance is guarded! Can't you, like, tunnel through the walls with your Smithy Arm? Aye, in theory—but I'm worried about the energy supply. I don't know how long of a tunnel I'd be able to make. Plus, there's likely to be enemies inside, so I'd like to save as much energy as I can. Good point. We're all in trouble if that thing conks out the moment we break in. In that case, we'll distract them at the entrance while you sneak inside. Everybody ready? Let's go! Oh, I am GREAT at making distractions! They will regret the day they ever came up with this awful plan. You ready for your part, Lazry? Huh? Wh-who goes there?! Yaaaaaaaaaaah! It's the enemy! To arms! To arm! Come and get it! We're quite used to handling a crowd of customers! Thanks, lasses. I won't let ye down. Gotta make sure no one spots me... Damn and blast! Soldiers! So, uh, apparently we're under attack. Should we go up and help, oooooor...? Hell no—let the other guards handle it. Besides, if we all run up to help, who's gonna guard the engineers? Ha ha! Found ye! Right then. Time to see what me arm can do! I-intruder! INTRUDER! Smithy Arm, engaged! Aye, the day is won! What the heck?! You okay, cousin? Anyone hurt? You're that blacksmith from before! Aye, and I've come to save everyone! Oh my gosh, you're amazing! Er, why aren't ye movin', cousin? I'm sorry, but...I'm staying. There's something I have to do. Are ye daft? The Empire soldiers will be back any second! I am willing to risk my life for the sake of my pride as an engineer. We rokkans build machinery in order to help people, not hurt them. So I can't leave until I destroy the terrible machine they made us build! Nay, I'll take care of the machine. Make your escape while ye can. But you'll be rushing headlong into the enemy! You're likely to die! No one is dyin' today, cousin. Not so long as I have...THIS! Holy cow. You finished your machine! Aye, with help from the same friends who are outside fightin' for ye right now. When they found out ye were in trouble, they pitched in to help make this arm... and taught me something important. That's a favor that needs repaid, and I'll use me new strength to do it. So when I say I'll destroy that machine, it's a promise ye can trust! I think I underestimated you. You're a smith for true. Okay, I'm outta here. Good luck! Gragh! Hurgh... *huff* *puff* They just keep comin'... I'll never reach the weapon at this rate. Which means I only got one choice! Ack! Guys, I think something just exploded down in the mine! See that mana light coming up the shaft? The weapon we were working on used that exact type of mana in its reactor, which means it must have...exploded. But what about Lazry?! She's safe. She has to be. She promised to compete against us in the next Golden Anvil, and she's not the type to break a promise. ...... Phew! LAZRY! How in the name of quartz did you manage to survive that explosion? There were too many soldiers for me to reach your weapon, so I decided to throw a rock into its reactor instead. Wait, you can't break a reactor with a rock. ...Unleeeess you have that arm of yours! Aye! It let me throw the rock from a safe distance, then skedaddle on outta there. Ye said machines are supposed to help folks, and that's just what me arm did. Ha ha ha! Yes! Exactly! I was wrong to ever doubt you, Lazry. You saved countless people AND protected the pride of engineers and smiths everywhere! Which means the debt is paid for your savin' me life. But I still got a promise to keep to the three lasses. Darn right you do. We'll see you at the Golden Anvil!

An Artisan's Path

(There's more than just me physical strength that need reinforcin'. I know that now.) If I find what that is, I bet I could make this sword here better, too... (So once I find me own path, the Golden Anvil will be mine!) Lazry! Emergency! What's wrong, lasses? The Golden Anvil is canceled! Huh?! The sponsor of the tournament is going to explain. Come on! What's the meaning of this, guildmaster? Why aren't we holding the Golden Anvil? Because of the Empire threat. The Empire? There have been increasing incidents of Empire soldiers kidnapping both engineers and blacksmiths of late. Aye, we've seen it firsthand. An Empire solider said they were forcin' smiths to make weapons off in some secret location. And you think the Empire might come here? I do. After all, if it's smiths they've want, we have the best in the world huddled together under a single roof. The location of the Golden Anvil is no secret, so we have to assume the Empire is already on its way. My first and greatest responsibility is to protect the participants, which is why we are canceling this year's tournament. Aw, hellfire! I spent all year training for this moment! Damn the Empire! This is just another in a long list of things they've stolen from us! Nay. We won't let 'em do it. Sorry, what? I'm still tryin' to put what I mean to say into words... Every artisan walks a different path. What's important to one can be less important to another. But we all want the same thing in the end: To be the best we can be. Which is why all those different paths meet up here at the Golden Anvil. That's right! And we won't let the Empire or anyone else take it from us! The tournament is worth the risk! I won't let the Empire crush my dream! Please, guildmaster! Don't cancel! Your dreams and pride will mean nothing if you fall into the hands of the Empire. Which is why we won't let it happen. Now...WHO'S WITH ME?! You have my anvil! And my bellows! To think you would all risk your lives for the glory of smithing... *sniff* So be it. The tournament will proceed... but on one condition! We are going to change the location. You mean, like, to a place where the Empire isn't going to show up? Aye, but where is that? Oh, I've a much more active sort of plan in mind... We'll show the Empire exactly what happens when you mess with us!

What the hell are those damn smiths playing at holding the Golden Anvil in a place like this? No idea—and I don't care, neither. Ain't like a bunch of metalheads can stand against the Empire! Haw haw haw! So true! ...Wait, here they come. They've lined all their weapons up on a rack like it's some kind of show. Ha! What fools! Time to go catch us a gaggle of blacksmiths. Heh. Like lambs to the slaughter... Stonetech engine, activate! What the hell?! Those weapons are FLYING! RUUUUN! A fine plan indeed, guildmaster. Heh. Any rokkan can design a mechanism to send a few weapons through the air. Now that our enemy is faltering, this is our chance! Push them back! Leave it to us. Let's go, sisters! I'm gonna show those Empire dogs just how sharp my weapons are! Ha! I'll kill ten times your number! Yaaaaah! Arrrgh... We'll protect the Golden Anvil with our own weapons! Oh, the irony! Haaaaah! Aaaargh... C-clearly we were wrong to underestimate these blacksmiths. I was hoping to take them back uninjured, but I have no choice. ...BRING IT OUT! Yes, sir! Graaaaagh! D-damn! It's a fiend! This fiend's outer skin is tougher than the continent's hardest ore! No blade can pierce it! Guess that means it's up to me. Let's do this, Smithy Arm! Activating stonetech engine! I-impossible... That fiend was invincible! R-retreat! Retreeeeat! Haw haw haw! Look at 'em run! We win! The smiths win! Oh man. We woulda been three dead ducks without Lazry and her arm. Three cheers for Lazry! Nay, the day wasn't won by me— it was won by all of us. After all, many hands make light work. Someone stole our motto! Are you gonna join our workshop now? N-nay!
