Episode 1

Ahoy!

Aw, crap. We got pirates at the gates! Sorry, what? Are you certain you're not simply imagining this? For what possible reason would pirates come to a place like this? I'm serious! Go look for yerself! They're DEFINITELY pirates! Well, I guess we should go see what's going on. I mean, if Ranzal's right, we can't just ignore it. I'm still convinced he's just seeing things. The man likely spent too much time out on the town again last night. Oh ho! The landlubbers arrive! Shiver me timbers, but there be some true cuties here! Gahar har har! Hey! Quit acting like a creep! S-sorry, Cap'n! Yar... Well, they certainly look like pirates, what with the skull marking and all. And of course there's the, um, ＂yar＂ bit. But if they ARE pirates, why have they left their ship? And what do they want with us? There's little here worth stealing. Gar! Don't ye be talkin' 'bout the cap'n like that! She ain't some kinda moneygrubbin'— Cram it already! The more you flap your scary mug, the more likely these people are gonna flee in terror! Yar, I be sorry, Cap'n... *sigh* ANYWAY! Yes. Sorry for all of the... commotion just now. I'm Karina, the captain of this motley crew. Our ship's moored in a port a little ways from here. But today, we didn't come to pillage. Then why are you here? To get a look at the infamous Euden! Hmm... Um...what are you talking about? I see you've got the guts to stand strong in the face of pirates... And those eyes! You're quite the spirited one indeed. I think I like you! No. Really. What are you talking about? I've got a lot of experience with needing to judge people, see? Just looking people in the eyes tells me all I need to know about 'em. And I sense a strong will in you. The rumors weren't lying. Heck, if anything, they undersold you! Mmm... Those eyes... Just looking into 'em makes me want to claim you as my own. Huh?! Gar har har! I'm joking! ...For now, at least. But more importantly, I'm gonna stick around and serve with ya for a while. Me and my men'll help you fight. That's not something you simply walk up and announce. Also, there's no way we're going to let pirates into our castle. Easy, Cleo. I don't think they're bad people. Plus, we need all the help we can get. If you and your men want to join us, Karina, you're more than welcome. Yar? Er, I mean, I know this was my idea and all, but I can't believe you're not the slightest bit suspicious of us. You really are every bit the man I'd hoped! Now I DO want you to be mine... Erm... I dearly hope you're not making a terrible, terrible mistake right now.

Untraditional Pirates

Morning, Karina. I didn't expect to see you up this early. Morning, Euden! Gahar har har! Your face is so adorable when you're sleepy like this! Eeeep. A-anyway, what are you doing up so early? Oh, waking up early is just what I do. A pirate's day starts with the rising of the sun, after all. Is the rest of your crew awake, too? But of course. Hey! Boys! Euden's up! Come say good morning! Mornin', Yer Highness! Yar, didja sleep well? If too noisy we be, a holler give ye! Very nice. Now back to work! Aye, Cap'n! Work? ...Hey, wait a second. How long has the castle been this clean? Keeping things clean is the foundation of a good life! And since you're lettin' us stay here, it's the least we can do. Wow, that's... Um, thanks. It's appreciated. You really are a conscientious bunch. I can't believe what an amazing job they did. I've never seen the place so shiny. I've made sure my men know how to do all the common chores. Cleaning, laundry, sewing—you name it, they can do it. *yawn* They were the ones what cleaned up when I knocked my milk over yesterday! Real nice bunch'a fellers. I figured pirates would be pretty unruly, but your crew is different. They're far more...domestic than I expected. Indeed, Ranzal here is closer to a traditional pirate than they are. Gahar har har! Wonderful! I'm really proud of my men, so it makes me happy to hear others recognize 'em. Oh, by the way, breakfast is ready. They cooked breakfast?! Gahar har! What a reaction! No, I did the cooking this time, but thanks anyway. I'm really having to rethink everything I thought I knew about pirates...

Episode 3

Regal Eyes

Hah! Hah! Haaaaaah! There you are! I never thought I'd find you training—you really are hardworking for a fancy, milk-fed prince. ...Milk-fed? Er, I mean, what brings you here this late in the day, Karina? I was doing some late-night baking and wondered if you might wanna join me for some tasty snacks. I'm still impressed at how much domestic stuff you pirates do. ...Also, I'd LOVE a late-night snack. But I still have a little training left. Mind waiting for a bit? I need to keep getting stronger, and I haven't done enough yet. Yar, of course! I'll be riiight heeere watching you until you're done. Er, thanks. ...Hah! Haaah! I really can't get enough of your eyes. There's just something about your gaze that's so...gaze-y. Most royals have the dead-black eyes of a bored squid, but not you! Those puppies are full of life and determination. This world would be a much better place if all rulers were like you. Hah! Hraah! You're pretty tough on... royals, aren't you? Haaah! You know it! Course, I used to be one, so there's that. Wait, what? You did? You stopped moving there, Princey. If you're gonna train, stick at it until ya drop from exhaustion. O-oh... Sorry... Hah! Haaah! But yeah, I used to be a princess in a country a long, long ways from here. I lived in a giant castle, had tons of people wait on me, ate fine meals, was up to my eyeballs in jewelry... You know the drill. It was the kind of lifestyle that most folks only dream of, and it was handed to me from the day I was born. ...... But the reality of that life? ...Blech. It's nothing but petty arguments about succession, and worthless factional disputes with other equally hapless royals. I was surrounded by mad dogs who cared for no one but themselves. There wasn't a single royal I knew who I could respect in even the slightest way. So I just tried to tune it all out and keep moving, until the day I noticed that my eyes were...dead. Which is when you decided to take off and head for the high seas? Yar, that's about the long and short of it. ...Heh. What's gotten into me? Not often I open up like this. Sorry for ramblin' on until your brain oozes out your ears. Anyway, I'll leave this batch of treats here. Just wolf 'em down whenever you're done. Oh, and make sure to take a bath, because you smell like the hold of a ship. I knew she was a good captain, but I had no idea she used to be a princess. Still, she could have left and done anything she wanted...so why become a pirate?

Episode 4

Rob or Be Robbed

Arr, Cap'n! All the goods and food we need be gathered! Nice. Go take five, then let's get ourselves back to the castle. Sorry for asking you to help with all this, Karina. Yar! Don't worry about it. You're givin' us a roof over our heads— this is the least we can do. You oughta take a break yourself. I'm gonna check and make sure we got everything we need in the meantime. Think I'll take you up on that. Thanks. All right, Euden. We should get goin— ...... Hmm? What're you staring at? ...Hey, isn't that the way to the capital? Yeah. Whenever I'm far from home, I always find myself staring at it. ...Or in the direction of it, at least. Lemme tell you something, Princey. It's rob or be robbed out there. If someone robs you first? Rob 'em right back! Is that some kind of pirate credo? Gahar har har! Not quite. It's something I learned from experience when I was 14 years old. What happened? Someone tried to take my life. I was born royal—as you know—but I couldn't stand the restrictive lifestyle I had to lead in the castle. But I ALSO couldn't change the position I'd been born into. I couldn't take charge of my own fate. I was trapped. ...Or at least that's what I kept telling myself as I got more and more miserable and my eyes got more and more dead. ...... So on my 14th birthday, it was decided that I should be married off. The prince who was chosen was a real piece of work. Stubborn, sly, power hungry, and just an all-around nasty guy. All I could think was, ＂I'm gonna be givin' my whole life to THIS joker?＂ Just the thought made me wanna hurl... which is when I finally reached my limit. So that's when you fled the castle? Yep. Although I prefer to think of it as the day I took my life back. I made it about 10 feet before my current crew found and captured me. We fought. I won. Before I knew it, I was their captain. And at that moment, I finally understood what freedom was. So it doesn't matter whether you use brains or force—when you set your heart on somethin', get out there and do it. 'Cause your life is yours, and yours alone, by gar! And I have every faith that you'll make your dream come true. Wow. That is one heck of a pep talk. And I won't let you down, Karina. No matter what happens, I will not fail.

Episode 5

Rowing with Your Crew

*sob* Caaaaaaap'n! We'll be makin' ye proud, by gar, and we'll never forget ye! Ugh! Have some dignity already! You're going to be just fine without me. That's why I'm okay leaving. Yar, we'll protect yer ship from man or beast, and we'll keelhaul any who besmirch the good name'a Captain Karina! It sure is quiet in here today. ...Say, where's Karina's crew? I hope nothing happened. Hey, Euden. Hello, Karina. Er, what's going on? What happened to your crew? I sent them back to the ship. Also, I...uh...resigned. As captain, I mean. Oh. That's... Wait, why? We can't have a bunch of pirates hangin' around this joint forever. It's gonna scare everyone off. Also, our ship has been stuck in port for a while. It's time to go. That's why I'm leaving it all to them. So you're not a pirate anymore? Bite your tongue, you scurvy dog! I've got no intention of givin' up the pirate life. Not now. But for the moment, I'm rowing with your crew instead. *sigh* Still... What is it? It's just a shame YOU can't be a pirate. Then I'd truly have everything. Me? A pirate? I don't think so. I'm being completely serious over here. I think it's worth considering. You're carrying a pretty heavy burden on your shoulders right now. People always expect royalty to part the seas for breakfast and sew 'em back up before lunch. And you could have run from all that, but you took it on for the sake of your people. So if the time ever comes where it all starts to feel like too much, it's okay to just...let go. And if that leaves you rudderless, you're welcome to come sign on with me and the boys. ...Thank you, Karina. But I know that if I run away now, I'll regret it for the rest of my life. You fled the castle you grew up in because of the opposite reason—you knew you'd regret it if you DID stay. No matter the reason, I don't want to live a life of regret, which is why I'm going to keep on fighting. Gahar har har! I knew that'd be your answer. I saw it in your eyes.
