It claims we are magical weapons made by recreating the technology of a civilization lost 700 years ago. Wait, but you guys are 300 years old, right? So this tech is from another seven centuries BEFORE that? ▷From a millennium ago, yes. During the First War of Binding.◁ Whoa. That's amazing! ▷Indeed. But that isn't the only unusual thing at work here.◁ There is another piece of ancient technology inside my body. And what's THAT one do? ▷You've actually seen one in operation. It harvests mana from nature and causes it to materialize: A mana kiln.◁ The thing we saw at Lake Reeve?! You stand before a mana kiln, a device wrought from ancient wisdom that permits the harvesting and subsequent physical utilization of mana. That thing had bad news written all over it. You sure it's okay to have one of those dealies kickin' around inside you? ▷Very. It's much smaller than the one at Lake Reeve, so there's no danger of causing any extensive damage.◁ Okay then, bigger issue: WHY is there a mana kiln inside your body? A surprisingly apt question. The answer lies in Eden mode. Hey! What do you mean, "surprisingly"?! Adverb: Eliciting surprise. Unexpectedly. I didn't sign up for this much snark... Look, so how does that thing tie in to Eden mode? The mana kiln is linked directly to the Eden mode system. By igniting the mana kiln, the connected circuits are able to effectively absorb mana from the surrounding environment. This dramatically increases my processing speeds and response times, engaging a status known as Eden mode. I don't know a circuit from a circus here, but you're saying Eden mode's crazy power is actually the mana kiln's crazy power? Affirmative. Your mind is surprisingly nimble today. Yeah yeah, I'm off to college after this. So if that kiln's such a handy doo-dad, why'd it stay quiet up till now? ▷There was a fatal flaw in the Eden mode startup protocols.◁ What flaw? ▷To engage Eden mode, we have to release all limiters and reroute all circuits to support the mana kiln's ignition.◁ ▷But that's the problem: Another mode is automatically activated as soon as the last limiter is released.◁ Is that the "release all limiters" thing she keeps saying? The one that...oh! ▷You see it now? Releasing all limiters leads to Elimination Protocol, the attack mode that makes no distinction between friends and foes.◁ ▷Sure, it enhances Laxi's combat ability, but it also makes her unable to do ANYTHING else but fight.◁ ▷Which means it's impossible for her to shift to Eden mode by herself.◁ Then how'd she pull it off before? Mascula wields Elimination Protocol access and control privileges. When I enter Elimination Protocol, Mascula is able to control my body. ▷But even that comes with a condition.◁ Holy crap, there are SO many rules... Mascula must synchronize with my autonomous drive. ▷Put in human terms, our hearts have to become as one.◁ ▷We first entered Eden mode right after I decided to fight together with Laxi.◁ So you synced up with her will to fight, and that met the condition for Eden mode? ▷Right. And we still have a whole bunch of questions about this, but that's what we've got as of right now...◁ So you don't know how to stabilize Eden mode yet? Man, that was the whole point of even coming to this joint! Affirmative. We still lack that knowledge. So he wrote everything but the good part? C'mon, there's gotta be something else!
