A Midnight Snack

Please, you must return me to my village! You no longer have a place there. Henceforth, you will exist in this dark world and dance only for me. Now go, my sweet! Dance! (I hoped to never have that dream again.) But now, the very thought of sleep terrifies me...

Looks like everything's in order here. ...Hmm? Is that Felicia? O moon, grant the light of peace to all who sleep in this castle. O stars, shine the light of hope upon this darkened sky. I offer my dance and prayers to the vast heavens above. Good evening, Felicia. That was a beautiful dance. Ack! How long have you been there, Euden?! Not long. I was just on my way back to my room when I saw you. It's quite late to be returning to your room. Were you on patrol? Something like that. Er, but maybe you could keep this a secret from the others? They're just going to tell me I should get more sleep if they hear about it. Hah hah, I can imagine. It will be our little secret, then. Thanks. But hey, what are YOU doing up at such an hour? The embarrassing truth is that I was woken by a dream and can't get back to sleep. I still have nightmares of the time I spent imprisoned by Thanatos. I thought some dancing might help calm me and take my mind off it. But I still don't feel like I can sleep. I'm not surprised to hear that. It was a really terrible experience. ...Wait. I think I've got an idea. Come with me, Felicia! Er, all right. But where are we going?

Here, I made you some hot milk. So THIS was your idea! Mmm, it smells lovely. My mother always used to make it whenever I couldn't sleep. She sounds like a very kind person. Thank you, Euden. ...It's a gentle taste. And the warmth puts me at ease. Sleep should come easily after this. I'm glad to hear it. Hey, somethin' smells great in here! Is it pie? Or maybe TWO pies?! Ranzal? What are you doing here? Thought I'd pop in here for a midnight snack or three. Looks like my timin' was spot on the nose! Well, there's no pie, but we do have warm milk. Would you like a cup? Warm milk? Gimme! You're up too, Mym? I wouldn't miss a chance to sample something made by my darling. All right, what's going on down here? We can hear you all the way upstairs. Huh?! Someone must have lost my invite to this party, but I'm crashin' it anyway! Good grief. Did we wake EVERYONE? All this just because I couldn't sleep. You know what's best for times you can't sleep? A FEAST! A feast. ...In the middle of the night. Sure! If you aren't sleepy, the best thing to do is gorge yourself until you are. Now THIS cat gets it! Everyone has fun, THEN gets to ride the midnight train to sacktown. We're killin' a couple'a birds with one catapult! I'm not certain that is the most appropriate way to describe this. This sounds fun. Let's do it! I suppose it DOES sound rather exciting now that I think about it. Well, if Felicia's in, we've gotta do it! I think it's a good idea. Elisanne? Cleo? How do you feel about it? If you have no objections, neither do I. Well then, what food does everyone want? It wouldn't be much of a feast without any. This is going to be great!

*BURRRRRRRRP* N-not another bite. ...Maybe just one more ham? Zzzzz... Zzz...Oh, darling...you're so cuddly...zzz... All right, now it's my turn to be the entertainer... Zzz... Zzz... Heh. Shall we get started, then? I'll start sweeping in this direction, Euden. Then I'll work the opposite way. Look out, dust! Here I come! La la laaa... Heh. She must really be enjoying helping if she's started sing...ing... Durrrr... Are you all right, Euden? Huh?! Whu?! Who's there?! It's me. Cleo. Why did you stop sweeping? Huh? I did? Yes, you stopped and stared at Felicia— in a rather slack-jawed manner, may I add. Sorry! Sorry. I just found myself so... captivated looking at her. (Oh my word. All she's doing is preparing the food, yet her every movement is...beautiful. It's like she's actually dancing.) Cleo, watch out! The pot is boiling over! Huh? Oh no! Whew! I almost paid a steep price for being captivated by you. I'm...sorry? Your movements as you worked made it look like you were dancing. Like I was dancing... Wait, WAS I dancing?! Whatever you did, it was stunning. I couldn't take my eyes off you. *sigh* I've done it again. This has happened before? My family used to say I was dancing as I helped with things. I used to spend almost the entire day dancing, and now it seems I do so the rest of the time without thinking. That sounds exhausting. And yet I love it, so I've never thought of it as bothersome in the slightest. But as a result, the motions associated with dancing come out in my daily life. I wonder if that was what happened when we were cleaning? Ugh. I'm so sorry. It is our fault for becoming distracted. Old habits are hard things to break out of. You shouldn't feel bad. But if this is how every attempt to help is going to end, there's no point in it! The next time I help, I'll be certain not to dance! Well, if you say so. I'll be fine. In fact, here! Watch me sort the cutlery without dancing. Must...move...deliberately... Now it looks like your joints have locked. There must be some kind of happy medium we can find here. I'll be fine. ...Oh no! Trying to help with chores isn't going well for me at all. And yet, I don't want to make everyone change their ways to accommodate me. There MUST be something I can do. WAAIT! PLEEEEASE! That sounded like it came from the courtyard. COME BAAAAACK! Oh man, there's no WAY I'm gonna ever find that now... Luca? Why are you holding your head in your hands like that? Hey, Felicia. Feel like laughing like an idiot AT an idiot? What? I would never laugh at you, Luca! I'm sure it's nothing as bad as all that. Oh, but it is. It most certainly is. So go on! Laugh! Laugh at me! LAUGH, DAMN YOU! LAAAAUGH! Eeek! Y-you're scaring me, Luca! Just calm down and tell me what's wrong. Oh, I'll tell you what's wrong... The tablecloth I was drying got blown away by the wind! It was Cleo's favorite, too—which means she's gonna skin me alive when she finds out about it. Oh dear. That IS a problem. Oh, I have an idea! In fact, why don't you leave this to me? Er, are you sure about this...?

Has anyone seen Felicia today? Now that you mention it, I don't think she was at breakfast this morning. She's not one for oversleeping. Maybe she isn't feeling well. That's a worrying thought. Should I go check on her? (Uh oh... Hurry up, Felicia!) You look restless, Luca. Everything okay? Huh?! Oh, um, I'm just worried about Felicia! That's all. ...Really. Er...I mean...I made this on a whim! Yep! Toootal whimsy. It certainly has nothing to do with Luca letting the other one get blown away. OH COME ON! Ack! I'm sorry! It just slipped out! Felicia really cannot tell a lie. Or even step carefully around one. I see what's going on here, Luca. *sigh* Yes, it was me. I'm sorry. I was so very fond of that tablecloth. And yet, I can see myself growing just as fond of this one. Huh? Then... Felicia has replaced what was lost, so I will let you off—THIS time. Whew! You saved me big time, Felicia. I just can't help but feel that if I hadn't started dancing, it would have prevented all sorts of terrible things. Thanatos would never have shown any interest in me, my home would never have been destroyed... Well, that's true. Without dancing, you'd likely be living a peaceful, happy life somewhere. But your dancing has ALSO made a lot of people happy, right? Well... I'm sorry for how things have turned out, but no one can reverse time. And looking gloomy isn't going to bring your village back. Do you really think your family and friends would want you being sad all the time? No, of course not. Then you should hold your head high and tell the world you love dancing. Strut about? Shake my booty? Er, let's start with the basic posture. Please stand with your legs together. Pffft. That's it? Easy! Keep your thighs together, and don't arc your back. Everyone is going to be surprised when they see it all. Cleo's head may explode with the possibilities. And Ranzal and Luca will be happy for very different reasons. Then Elisanne will warn them both not to eat too much. Mym will ask what dish you like most so she can make it for you. Meanwhile, Notte will beg Cleo to make another cupcake-marshmallow pizza— which is a thing I did not know existed until about a week ago. Ha! We'd better get back soon so we can... Wait. There's someone over there. I see them. Let's hide behind the trees. Are everyone's weapons ready? Yes, sir. We can move out as soon as we have cover of night. They look like imperial soldiers. What are they doing here? There's a whole unit of them. Should we take a detour? Well, the two of us certainly can't take them all on. Let's sneak past, then inform the others what we've— Stay alert, men! As soon as the sun sets, we move on the traitorous prince's castle! What?! We don't have time for a detour. I'm going in. No!
