Summary

The party rescues the dragon named Phantom and learns he and Felicia are fleeing a being called Thanatos. The party agrees to help in this endeavor, but is suddenly attacked by one of his underlings.

Dialogue

Urgh... The fiends are swarming! Oh, no! Phantom! We'll save him! Haaah! *pant* *pant* Felicia...is that...you? Yes, it's me—and I've brought help! Those wounds are severe indeed. I must treat him at once. I can't thank you all enough. Felicia, who are these people? They came here to save you. I see. I'm sorry to have troubled you so. No sweat, bub—we sent those chumps packing like a bunch of luggage! Ah, I wish it were so... Uh oh. I know that look. Something's still buggin' ya. What is the problem...um...miss? Oh, right, I never introduced myself. How terribly rude of me. My name is Felicia. Until recently, I had been trapped in the lair of a terrible fiend. But Phantom saved me from that life. It seems this fiend is not eager to see you go. Who cares? We just dropped him like a phat beat! The foes you defeated were naught more than the underlings of the fiend who kept her prisoner. The one who held me is named Thanatos, though he calls himself the "king of death." He bears the power to take mortal lives. He is massive...and terrifying. Well, I'm glad you made it out of there in one piece. He let me live. ...I think. I am a dancer, you see, and I believe Thanatos wished to make me his— and his alone. Is dancing your occupation? Yes. In my hometown, it was customary for a citizen to perform a dance to honor the land and secure a bountiful harvest. This dance was my charge. That's awesome! Yet because of that, Thanatos set his gaze upon her. So he kidnapped you and made you dance for him? Yes. On the day of the festival, just as I was about to begin my dance, he appeared out of nowhere.

Please, you must return me to my village! You no longer have a place there. Henceforth, you will exist in this dark world and dance only for me. Now go, my sweet! Dance!

Thanatos imprisoned me in his lair, and though I tried to escape countless times, it was impossible. After my last failed escape attempt, I started to think I would never be able to leave that place. But at that moment, Phantom appeared, challenged Thanatos, and took me away. And that's when Thanatos sent the goon squad after ya. You did well to save her, Phantom. The image of her sorrow caught my eye, and I could do naught but help. Sounds like love at first sight. Why would you turn the conversation to that subject? Well, if that's NOT the reason, I don't understand why you did it. You've never been one whose sense of duty demanded you rush into danger and rescue someone. After all, you're— Silence, Flamewyrm! Speak no more on such matters of the past. I have no specific reason for doing what I did beyond base sympathy. Well then, what are you going to do now? I will return her to her village. Simply removing her from danger would leave the task only half finished—so I shall return her to the life she once knew. After all, it is because of me she is here. Do not say such things! I cannot possibly thank you enough for what you've done. But Phantom, do you really think it's a good idea for me to return home? Don't you want to go back? Thanatos will never stop pursuing me. If I go home, I'll be putting my entire village in danger. So while I want to return more than anything, I... If you want to go home, then that's what we'll do. If this Thanatos character shows, we'll protect you—and them. B-but Thanatos is dangerous! Any chump what calls himself the "king of death" has gotta be more bark than bite. Besides, we cannot simply ignore a fiend who runs about kidnapping innocents. Even supposing you were able to escape, someone else would surely become his next victim. Very heartening, is it not, Felicia? That leaves no reason to hesitate in accepting their offer. Thank you so much, everyone. I cannot believe I am asking more of you, but... Please take me home! Of course. Now then, let's get— I shall never let you go... Ah! I shall never let you go! Felicia, my beloved dancer! I shall never let you go... And no one else shall have you! Where is that stupid voice coming from?! Focus on the foes before you—they serve Thanatos! He's right... I'm never going to escape! I said we're going to protect you, and that's what we'll do. Now let's take these guys out!
