Episode 1

Unearthed While Cleaning

It's rather shocking how dirty this place has become. It's difficult to keep a place this large neat and tidy. I'm merely thankful we had the day free to deal with it. We rarely have enough time to spare for cleaning. Which is all the more reason to knuckle down and finish it today. This painting... Are you finished with the storehouse, Euden? ...Hmm? Have you discovered something? I found this painting while I was cleaning. Can you tell what it's supposed to be? That's... Augh! K-kindly hand that to me! Er, of course. Here you are. It's hard to tell, but I think it's a painting of some hideous beast. A beast?! How dare you, sir! This is a portrait! A portrait? Of...a person? Are you sure? I am extremely certain. Wait. Cleo, didn't you say something about painting pictures to help remember your previous master? So does that mean...YOU painted this? Er... Why, this is a WONDERFUL portrait! It doesn't look like a hideous beast at all! In fact, I'm going to hang it up right— Stop. I am quite aware that I lack even the slightest hint of artistic talent. That's not true. Just a moment ago, you mistook my painting of a man for that of a "hideous beast." I appreciate the thought, but you needn't lie to spare my feelings. If anything, I owe you thanks for finding this. I had been looking for it. Well, I'm glad for that much, at least. ...But if I may, Cleo, was your previous master— Hey, Euden! Can I get some help cleaning out the armory, or are ya gonna stand there and chew the fat all damn day?! There will be time for us to speak after the cleaning is done. Run along to the armory. I shall tend to the garden. We'll have this place sparkling by sundown! Now that I think about it, I don't know much about Cleo's time before this. I wonder what sort of person her former master was...?

Episode 2

Above and Beyond

You wanted to talk to me, Elisanne? Yes, about Cleo. She's been working far too hard of late. Hmm. I suppose she does take care of pretty much everything around here. Plus she patches us up after every fight. That's about double the work I do. All right. Let's see if we can't lighten that load for her a bit. Starting today, we'll all take over some of her chores. Guess that makes me the grub man. I'll head to the kitchen and— Dinner is served. Buh?! Er, isn't this a little early for dinner? I acquired some lovely fish today and thought it best to prepare it while it was at the peak of freshness. Also, I see nothing wrong with sitting down to dine at such an hour. N-no, it's a fine time for dinner. Thank you, Cleo. It smells delicious. Ah! There's still laundry to do, right? I dried and folded everything an hour ago. Well, what about scrubbing the soot off the castle wal— Done. Ah. Well, um...thank you, I suppose. You certainly do move quickly when it comes to cleaning, Cleo. Indeed. Is there even anything left for the rest of us to do? Might I inquire as to your sudden interest in my cleaning habits? It almost seems like you're plotting something. P-plotting? Who's plotting?! I'm all for throwing a party for Cleo, but— OW! Blast! How can peeling vegetables be so hard? All right, Euden. You can do this. Do it for Cleo! ...What are you doing? GYA! C-Cleo?! What are you doing?! That is literally the exact question I just posed to you. But if you must know, I heard screams of pain coming from the kitchen and decided to investigate. And what do I find but our fearless leader engaging in a personal vendetta against his own fingers. What? No, I'm just getting things ready for the parrrrr... Er, I mean, I decided to get a head start on dinner. So as you can see, I'm peeling these vegetables for a completely normal reason. Considering your peeling skills—and the amount of blood on the floor—one could argue this makes MORE work for me. But I appreciate the thought regardless. Now let me bandage your hands before you pass out. I'm quite capable of handling the cooking, Euden. You go rest. No, Cleo. It has to be me that makes it, or else there's no point. I have no idea what that means. But as you're clearly not going to take no for an answer, allow me to show you the proper way to go about this task. I'd rather not spend the rest of my evening stitching you back together. ...Very good. Now we merely need to wait for it to finish simmering. You really do know everything, Cleo. It's kind of amazing. You act as if I possess an innate natural talent. Time and practice is all it requires. It's merely the product of long years spent trying to please him. You mean your previous master? If you don't mind my prying, what was he like? That is not a question to be asked lightly. But if you're so curious, why not look into it yourself? What is all this about? You're always doing so much for us, so we wanted to do something for you. We all pitched in to help! Even me. Now take a load off and dig in before the chow gets cold. This explains all the sneaking about lately. I suppose we weren't exactly subtle. But since you're always the one doing this kind of thing, we don't have much practice. That's why we wanted to treat you for once. So...do you like it? You hardly needed to go to such lengths. I am but a servant. Simply doing my job satisfactorily doesn't merit any special celebration. You're not my servant, Cleo—you're my friend, and a trusted teammate to us all. And that means we all have to pitch in. I don't want to tell you how to do your job, but I'd personally prefer to be partners and friends, not master and servant. I... Thank you, Euden. You really are just like him. What was that, Cleo? ...Nothing. Now then, am I truly meant to eat all of this by my lonesome? Yep. It's your party, so pack it in! In what world could one woman eat this volume of food? A Promise

Hello, Cleo. What are you doing out here? Er, wait. Isn't that...? Apologies. I thought I'd take one last look at his portrait before I disposed of it. I imagine having a servant keep a portrait of her former master must feel...odd. Cleo, there's no need to throw it out. I WANT you to have it. You don't mind? Why would I mind? Alberius was...a brave man. And a good one. He couldn't bear to see injustice go unchallenged. This spared many from suffering, but also added to his own. He always smiled when he ate my cooking.
