Summary

The prince battles Barbary in the space between worlds, but is unable to totally defeat her due to the might of her furious counterattack. Hoping to gain an advantage in the fight, the prince decides to seek out Siren and enlist the power of her song.

Dialogue

Urgh... We're out of time! *pant* How dare ye... Gar, nobody makes a fool of a pirate! Ye'll pay for this, ye will! How is that fiend still standing? We landed every blow clean! Try usin' the fragment again, boss! Got it! Not this time, laddie! I'll send every last one of ye to the darkest depths of the locker! Nnngh... Her attack is unbelievable... We're so busy dodging we can't even get a hit in! Hold on! Lemme try a few arrows! ...Dammit! Those explosions are knocking my arrows off course! Gahar har! We're just gettin' started, so we are! Bring me the next one! Graaaagh! Those fiends are giving Barbary some kind of exploding weapon! COME, YE SLIMY SCALLYWAGS! COME FEEL THE FURY OF BARBARY! Holy craaaaap! Luca! Damn, this lady ain't messin' around! Barbary has lost herself in her rage! We can't keep this up or someone is going to get seriously hurt. Everyone, fall back to Erasmus's cave! I usually ain't much for runnin' but watch these feet fly! Yar, where be ye paddlin' off to? I gots another surprise for ye! I think not! Argh, my eyes! That ain't fair, so it ain't! Go, all of you! Take flight while you can! Thank you, Erasmus! Gar, ye be nothin' but a barrelful of lily-livered, yellow-bellied cowards! Very well! Show me yer backs, cravens! Won't be long before I be rippin' apart every last soul on this bedamned island! Just in case anyone is curious, I am NOT a fan of this lady at ALL. We had best take her at her word when she claims the will to lay waste to the island and all souls upon it. ...... This wasn't your fault, Estelle. But if I hadn't allowed her to take the treasure from me... The prince is correct—you did no wrong. But, Erasmus... The responsibility for all falls to me; I was unable to protect the treasure. You have now become ensnared in troubles of my making, and for this, I am truly sorry. You didn't do anything wrong either. So let's all stop apologizing and instead figure out what our next move should be. There must be SOMETHING we can do! Nothing is impossible if you but possess the will! If fighting spirit was all that was required for victory, we would have already been done with this long ago. Then perhaps our spirit is simply lacking! And perhaps it takes more than that! I have a strong will, and yet recently I found myself ensnared by a song more powerful than any desire I have known. No one—not even you—could hear that beautiful singing and not be charmed! Wait a second. ...Siren! Methinks an idea has just formed. Guys, I think I know how we can defeat Barbary and save this island. Go on, Your Highness. If we charm Barbary with Siren's song, it might be enough to slow her down. We'll take advantage of that moment to use the otherworld fragment. Trapping her in the space between worlds yet again! And saving the island, woooo! Yeah, that's great and all, but it doesn't solve the bigger problem of how to actually...you know? DEFEAT her? It don't matter WHERE we fight if we don't do somethin' about that weapon of hers. I have an idea about that as well. See, I think we need to— To summon up our iron WILLS! If she launches explosions, we simply charge into them! Would you please still your flapping gums and let him FINISH!? Please, Highness. Continue. Barbary only has so many bombs— she uses her minions to resupply her. So we have to isolate her in the space between worlds and cut her off from those minions. Now THAT'S an idea! Though of course, she can still attack with the bombs she has on hand, so we'll need to be cautious in any case. This is a solid plan through and through. Let us go to Siren and beg her aid. Give me your map, then, that I might mark Siren's dwelling upon it. OR you could just guide us there yourself. I mean, if you wanna be heeeelpfull? Siren despises me. If you hope to secure her cooperation, I will hinder your efforts. How can she hate YOU, man? You're totally rad! As I stated before, I admonished Siren for singing her song without taking its effects into account. As the guardian dragon of all who voyage on the high seas, I cannot turn a blind eye to the poor sailors she befuddles. I do not hate her. I truly don't. Her voice is simply...too beautiful. Looks like we'll have to meet with Siren alone, then. Yeah, but how do we even GET to her when crazy eyepatch lady is gonna open up on us the moment we step foot outta this cave? We should split into two groups. While one of them keeps her busy, the other can go to Siren. So who draws the short straw of playin' target practice? Let me do it! Please! I know you said none of this was my fault, but I still feel that I have failed somehow. Estelle, that's not— If she is going, then I will accompany her. What kind of instructor would I be if I were to let one of my charges run off into the heart of danger all alone? I will play the role of bait as well. Such is my duty as a Paladyn. And I will do the same. No. Your duty lies with the prince. In that case, I will trust you to take care of everyone in my stead. I too will join the distraction team. Partly because I cannot appear before Siren... But more so because I have a score to settle with Barbary. I do not wish to turn my back upon her.
