Summary

The party drove off a fiend named Sabnock, but can't be sure when it will attack again. While trying to learn more about the fiend, they discover it attacked the town one hundred years prior. They then attempt to figure out why it's grown so powerful recently.

Dialogue

We managed to drive off the fiends, Your Highness. Perhaps this will ensure some period of peace. But we haven't solved the problem at its root. We have to put the fiend responsible down for good. Hmm... What's up, polar bear? I told you, I'm not a polar bear! And more importantly, I can't shake the feeling I've seen that fiend somewhere before. Ah! Sabnock! What is a Sabnock? Sabnock is a fiend that appeared here a century ago. The whole town ended up banding together to drive it off. How did they manage to drive off a giant critter like that? Well, back then it was a rather normal-sized fiend. ...Hmm? Elias? What is it? Um...so you know that fiend who howled a few minutes ago? That's the one I've been dreaming about. Oh really? Yes. It appeared in my dreams and talked as if it could read my mind. So that's what those nightmares were? No wonder ya ain't sleepin'. I also know of this fiend. As do I. So you both dreamed of Sabnock as well? Yes. I heard a voice. A terrifying, yet doleful voice. I shall never forget it. And I had a very similar dream just before leaving the choir. What could this all mean? I don't know, but I think it's going to be worth our time to investigate. Mariti, can you ask if there are any kids in the choir who know about Sabnock? Sure thing! I'd also like to hear more details about this from Lucretia, Vixel, and Elias. ...Well, we've spoken to everyone currently in the choir. It seems several of them are aware of this Sabnock character. Their experiences have been varied. Some saw visions in their dreams, while others only heard a voice. However, the only one to have encountered Sabnock in reality is Maritimus. Which was a hundred years ago, right? Yeppers! And man, did it ever get BIG between then and now. What a fatty! What could have happened to allow it to grow so large, and what is the connection to the Harmonia Choir? Are we sure there IS a connection? Perhaps not—but it certainly feels like there is. For now, let's do what we can while we continue gathering information. That's... *cough* *cough* Are you all right, Elias? Oh no. Elias, you're actually— I-it's nothing! Leave me alone! That kid's a lot of things, but subtle ain't one of 'em. Think we should go after him? I think you should leave him be, actually. He has a veritable mountain of things to consider as it is. Do you know what's happening with him? Yes, because I experienced it myself. It's something everyone goes through—although knowing that didn't help me accept it any more easily. Wait, you don't mean that Elias is... It is not my place to say. I understand. I've been curious, but I suppose it's best to wait until he talks about it on his own. For now, let's focus on exterminating the fiends.
