Summary

Deep within an ancient ruin, the party finds a gateway linking back to Alfonse's world. However, Loki and Harle soon arrive intent on its destruction. The princes' parties then join forces to battle the imperial army and save the world.

Dialogue

This is an imperial research facility. They were apparently studying some sort of alchemy here. Could that be the method they used to create the Uncanny Gate? Unknown. The method used to summon the wicked demon a thousand years ago has been lost to time. Although we DO know Dyrenell alchemists attempted to revive the technique some three hundred years ago. However, there exists no mention of the degree of their success, if any. What IS certain is that research was conducted into the Uncanny Gate at this facility, so we should search for clues. That sounds like a plan. Uuuugh! Reading is for the birds. And yet, we've no choice but to search through every musty tome in case the information we seek is inside. Yeah, but still. Uuuugh! Hmph. What is it, Veronica? Something disagreeable is written here. Disagreeable? Wait, this can't be... Prince Euden, please have a look at this! Let me see... Wait, what in the world?! This book mentions the Askran Kingdom! As I thought. I still lack proficiency in reading your language, so I worried I may have been mistaken. The data here is three hundred years old. Apparently they were trying to create an Uncanny Gate, but couldn't get it to work. However, it DOES seem they were able to briefly connect to another world and speak with someone on the other side. According to this book, that person claimed to be from Askr. So if we can make that spooky gate whatever appear, these guys can use it to go home! ...Er, right? But they never actually completed it. Is it really gonna work? If this gate is like those in our world, Prince Alfonse may be able to open it. Then where do we find this gate? According to this, it is housed in a facility that has since fallen into ruin. Right then. Everybody get your best ruin-diving gear on!

...Is the Uncanny Gate here? If the documents are correct, there ought to be some vestiges of it here, yes. To think we would be called to make use of such unsavory technology... Look, let's just find the thing, use it, and get outta here already, okay? This place gives me the willies. I don't see anything gate-like around here. Wait. This is...familiar. Hey, awesome. It's a pile of rocks. These are not merely stones; they are the remains of a gate. Aw, maaan! We came all this way and the thing is BUSTED?! Not quite—I can feel a faint power emanating from it. Perhaps I can... ...Look! That light! Well, Prince Alfonse? Yes...I think it will work. It does have the same feel as the gates in my world. It may take some time to open it, but I think this will take us home! Yesss! Checkmate! This is a huge relief for all of us. How curious to think our worlds have actually been connected for so long. I suppose that IS a little strange... but since it let us become friends, I'm certainly glad about it. Likewise, Prince Euden. ...Wait. What's that sound? Uh, guys? We got about a kajillion imperial soldiers headed this way, and they ain't lookin' to play nice. What?! By Ilia, look at their numbers... Did they know we were here? Yes—because SHE'S here. Gods, not again! Goodness me, aren't you just a bunch of sharp-sighted lads and lasses to have discovered this old, mouldering ruin! I know you have come here to stop us from returning to our world, Loki! SUCH a clever boy—I really should enter you in a village talent show sometime. But it's true: If you leave, my fun ends. This is fun for you?! Of course! Madness? Chaos? Evil gates? It's fun on a bun that's left out in the sun! So yer just playin' us for cheap laughs? That's the worst! Loki's goal may have been naught but mischief, but I wager the Empire has a more tangible aim in mind. Our great Empress has incredible depths of knowledge and foresight; your poor brains are likely to overheat if you spend too much time trying to reason it out. Harle! Chaos is not without its own purposes— and the Empire will use that chaos to expand to ever greater heights! Tee hee hee! Oh, but this has been even more fun than I dared hope! Are you saying the current rash of bizarre events was something YOU orchestrated? Even supposing I did—which I'm not saying by the way—it was YOUR powers that actually caused all of this misery. The fault is yours alone. Perhaps so. But in that case, we will pay that debt to this world by defeating you here and now! To leave you would mean countless problems for the people of this world. Agreed. Let us defeat Loki here and pay our debt for good and all! Oh, what a righteous and principled bunch you are! Yet words are but wind, my princes and princesses; actions are another thing entirely. Do you truly think you can back up these bold words of yours? I'll kill you with my own hands, Loki. But you'll suffer first. A lot. Good heavens, you are a confused bunch. Let me clear this up for you: You will be attacking nothing. You are BEING attacked. We will assault those ruins, destroy this gate, and ensure that you've no choice but to remain in this world forever! You will be a pestilence that sweeps over this land, leaving naught but terror and chaos in your wake! Hmm... Speaking of which, I wonder just how much of our assault these paltry little ruins can withstand before crumbling. We will defeat you—the power of the friendships we forged will see to it! Let's do this, Prince Alfonse! We will protect the bond between our worlds!
