Felyne of Interest

*sigh* Kitty is SO cute... Wait, am I getting mushy? Is this mush? What's even HAPPENING to me right now? Augh! I've never felt like this before! I just wanna pick her up and give her big squishy hugs and pets on her little squishy head! Nya? Is that fresh meat I smell?! Aww, she's even adorable when she's running away from me very, very quickly! But WHY am I so hung up on this Felyne? My goal has always been to seek out powerful warriors in the hopes of one day knowing what defeat is like. That stayed the case even after Elisanne handed me my very first loss. Focus, Vanessa... Focus on losing... Focus on the thrill of combat... Aaaaugh! I can't do it! My stupid brain is crammed full of thoughts about kitty! Oh kiiiitty... I wanna be with yoooou... Wanna pet your fur and do do de dooo... The Felyne in question is a Lynian from another
world. The human, Vanessa, has been utterly
entranced by her, and now spends her days
creeping about in pursuit of the furry creature.

(I'm not looking to test my strength against her, and I hadn't even thought about Palicoes... Oh, no! I haven't thought about what I really want to do at all!) (Think, Vanessa. THINK! What should you do with kitty? What? Whaaaaat?!) Ah! Got it! Nya? I want you to be with me! Maybe I wasn't 100 purr-cent clear. I already have someone. Yeah, I know. Which is why I don't want you to be my Palico or whatever it is. I just want you to be my...friend. ...Mrowr? I've never had someone just want to be fur-iends before—and especially not someone who's so EARNEST about it! This is new, but...sure! Why not? Let's be fur-iends. Aaaaaugh! My heart's gonna POP! But yay! Yay for us, kitty! We're gonna be the bestest friends EVER!

Huh. So you go out to hunt monsters, gather materials from them, build new gear, then take on even HARDER ones. Sort of the ol' hunter grind, yeah? You betcha! So is that why you're here? Come to claim new and better gear? Yeah...and what I want is going to take a good deal of materials... Thanks for telling me how this hunting stuff works. I'm off to give it a try! Byeeee! Wow. She practically left a smoke trail behind her when she ran outta here. I'm back with your documents, nya! ...Er, is there a purr-oblem? You know that new friend of yours? No, but we ARE friends—and who wouldn't want to give the best gifts to a friend? Mee-YOW! Good thing I've got all this fur so you can't see how hard I'm blushing. It's a purr-fectly happy thought, Vanessa. Thank you, nya! Aaaugh! You jumped into my lap! This makes all my hard work worth it! ...Wait. No, it doesn't! I can't give up now! I am one hundred percent going to get us matching gear as a sign of our friendship! I'll go to the Hoary Woods as many times as it takes to get all the materials, so don't try and stop me! Oh dear. Seems like you two are getting along just swimmingly. Perhaps it is on account of your matching gear sets. It doesn't hurt, that's for sure. When we hit the trail in these duds, it makes me shivery all over! Wonderful. And given your impressive teamwork, I've a request for you both. I've heard tell of a strange fiend roaming these parts lately, and I'd like you to find out the story. That does sound like it's worth investigating. It could be something really fur-ocious! where Vanessa grew up...
Heya, Liam! How'd the match go? Oh, Vanessa. I... Bwa ha ha! Am I seein' things here? Is a lion-ranked fighter associating with a TRAINEE? Better be careful, lion, or his weakness will spread to you! Cram it, sister! I'll talk to who I want! ...Wait, Liam? Are you crying AGAIN? *sniff* M-my match went okay somehow, but only thanks to luck. I...I don't know how much longer I can keep this up! The fact that a trainee like me is even alive is already a miracle. So it's like that woman said—you should leave me before I end up making you weak. That's bunk and you know it! Besides, you and me are stray dogs, so it doesn't matter who we hang out with. Death sneaks up on everybody and clocks 'em over the head, so there's no sense spending all your time worrying about when it's gonna happen! If you say so... But in the arena, the strong eat the weak.
