- In Chinese mythology, Long is another name for the Chinese dragon, which possesses power over water, rain, typhoons, and floods. To be compared to a dragon is a high honor for outstanding people in Chinese culture.
- In this sense, Long Long's name may literally mean "Dragon Dragon".
- Long Long practices Kung Fu, a blanket term for Chinese martial arts. Juxtaposing pandas with Kung Fu is a common idea in pop culture works such as the animated movie franchise Kung Fu Panda or the earlier video game Warcraft III, however the association does not seem to have any mythological roots.
