Summary

Xander is quite excited about Dragonyule, but his enthusiasm amounts to little, so the prince appoints Cleo and Nefaria to help out. Together, the three dress like Saint Starfall and are dispatched to eliminate fiends threatening the people's holiday cheer.

Whoa, so THIS is a Yuletree? It's amazing! I'm glad we were able to put it up without any problems. Listen up, everyone! On Dragonyule, I'm planning to invite all the villagers to the castle for a big party. However, it's possible fiends could attack again, so we can't let our guard down. That being said, let's make sure it's a wonderful Dragonyule celebration! Well, I've heard enough! Hello, Xander. Care to help out? Hmph! I'd typically never permit the affront of a vassal making demands of his king. However... Who claims the mantle of kingship? The rightful lord of this castle remains Euden. Ha HA! I will not stand for such cheek when it comes from the lips of a shamefully deposed ruler. I am not the only former monarch here, Xander. Yet I am the king and ruler of this castle! I speak it thus, and thus it is so! In any event, Euden... Have you not forgotten the most indispensable part of Dragonyule? If I have, I'm sure you're going to tell me all about it, aren't you? Ha HA! So true. After all, one can hardly speak on matters of Dragonyule without ALSO mentioning that jolly bringer of good tidings, Saint Starfall! Saint...Starfall? Ah, right. You wouldn't know about him either...

To commemorate Ilia's birth, a great

many people gave the newborn's

family celebratory gifts.

Among those people was a person

who did not meet the infant goddess,

but instead placed their gift on a tree

in front of her home before departing.

According to stories handed down

over the long years, this person was

the incarnation of the Holywyrm

Elysium.

Three centuries later, the benevolent

king of a certain land took it upon

himself to mimic the particulars of

this tale.

He adorned himself with reindeer

horns and dressed like Elysium, then

traveled his kingdom placing gifts

beneath the eaves of homes.

His people delighted in these gifts,

and carried on the practice down

through the generations.

This gift-giver is now known as the

symbol of Dragonyule, Saint Starfall.

He was a great king of deep mercy. Rather like me, wouldn't you say? Are you SERIOUS right now?! Indeed! Thusly shall I take it upon myself to bear the heavy crown of Saint Starfall! I shall set about my preparations with all haste. Come, lackies! Attend your regent! Maybe the great and benevolent regent should zip his lip for a hot second! Surely you doubt his plan as much as I do, Euden? Yes, but I can't really fault his enthusiasm. Maybe we could let him try it and see how it goes? Oh, come on! Don't be a chowderhead! The thought of this knave playing at Saint Starfall is an ill one indeed. Several days later... Heave! Ho! Xander?! What in the world is that statue?! It is a carving modeled on my own gallant visage! What say you? Inspiring, is it not? Forget bein' inspired—the hell are ya DOIN' with the thing?! Why, I'm gifting it to the people, of course. I fear you're grossly overestimating their need for such a present. Hang on. That thing can't be cheap— especially considerin' it's a custom job. Don't tell me ya PAID for it?! Worry not! I used the Dragonyule funds given to me by Euden. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! Well. This is...not good. He's ruined Dragonyule already? I'm almost impressed. Why the dumbstruck faces, my vassals?! Gaze instead upon the resplendent visage of this statue and be re-invigorated! Urgh. Fie, but I can abide this idiocy no longer! You, sirrah, must cast your eye inward and take a hard look at yourself! Guiding one's people to happiness! Bringing smiles to the countenances of all! THESE are the actions of Saint Starfall—and of a king. And yet, here you stand, bold as brass and more fool than the basest village oaf, having robbed the people of all cheer! Such actions cannot be forgiven! Wh-what did you just say to me?! That's enough, both of you. Stop flapping your gums for one moment and listen to me. What Nefaria says is right—however, nothing will come from unfocused anger. And though it pains me to say this, I know Xander to be quite capable when he puts his mind to something. Quite so and hear hear! This woman is— BUT! You're still acting like a fool. So if you really want to be a hero of the people, figure out a solution to this mess. Urk! H-how can a mere scullery maid have such a fearsome presence?! Hmm... Maybe things can work out with this group after all. What do you mean? Well, Nefaria is calm and collected, while Xander is a man who acts first and asks questions... Never, actually. But somehow, Cleo seems to be able to keep both of them under control—and I think the three of them together are going to be perfect. You cannot mean— I do mean it. I want the three of you to work together and EACH be Saint Starfall. Have you forgotten that I am sylvan?! That's even better! You'll learn all about Dragonyule and make some great memories along the way. Great memori— An excellent plan! Now you two will know the sacrifice of playing Saint Starfall— and of course, come to appreciate me all the more in the process. I would settle for merely learning that you are not the hapless rapscallion you so clearly appear to be. How dare you, madam! Enough, both of you! Uuurgh... This is already turning my stomach. ...Right then. Xander said something about Saint Starfall wearing a red outfit. I tried to make something appropriate, but is this good enough? Does it suit me? Can I truly wear this and deliver gifts to everyone? Even Euden? Or am I just a foolish sylvan for even harboring such a thought? Cleo, could I have a momen—whoa. ACK! Th-this it's not what it looks like, Euden! Er, so you're NOT dressed up in a Saint Starfall outfit? That is what it was SUPPOSED to be, but I fear I may have gotten it wrong. There's no right or wrong to it, really. And yet, Dragonyule is a human festival. Not here, it isn't. I want everyone in the castle to celebrate this day, no matter what their heritage may be. I'm not concerned with form or tradition. What's most important is that everyone enjoys themselves. And yet, is it truly acceptable for me, a sylvan, to do so? Of course it is! Anyways, I'm going to get going. I'm trusting you with this, Cleo! Very well. It seems I have a great deal of work ahead of me... Oh ho! This outfit... Ha HA! This outfit is splendid! Simply splendid! Was it not arduous to prepare these garments for us, Cleo? Actually, I rather enjoyed it. Then thanks to your efforts, we shall enjoy a festive Dragonyule season as well. I am most grateful, Saint Starfall Cleo. Y-you're welcome... Oh man, this ain't good. We got fiends incoming! Ha HA! In that case, Saint Starfall now departs for the brave front of gift-giving! We're going out in THESE outfits?! The queen over there said it herself: It is a monarch's duty to bring happiness to the people. If we lead the way and enjoy ourselves, the rabble will simply fall in line! Now then! If you are attendants who would serve their king, then obey a king's will! Follow behind me at once! I suppose the prince DID say he wanted to see me enjoy myself... So I am going to do just that—AND make sure everyone else does, too! I am Saint Starfall, guided by the prince!
