Well, it didn't have anything to do with the fortune-spreading, y'know? It's just a, I don't know...a personal interest. I can't help wondering what might happen if I meddle a bit. Hm? Jurota That you would use honeyed words to bewitch His Majesty's comrades and foment an unjust rebellion... Such wanton villainy must be quelled, even if the perpetrator is the leader of a Wyrmclan. You could stand to learn a lesson about when to be firm. Or maybe you've yet to truly realize that you're about to lose your precious castle? What are you trying to do here, Mitsuhide? Occupy your kingdom. I've got no interest in becoming shogun of Hinomoto. Defeating all the other leaders of the Wyrmclans sounds like a hassle and a half. So I figure it's way faster to just steal someone else's kingdom and become the boss that way. Best of all, I'll have free rein—or rather, "reign"—to do as I please. ...... That's why I decided I'd take your castle and have your allies fall in line behind me. No. You'll have neither my friends nor my castle. I can't stop my friends from leaving me if that's what they wish. I have no right. But if you think you're going to take things from me by force, you're in for a rude awakening. Naturally, considering I devised it myself. The rules are simple. Over a period of three days, whichever of us acts for someone else first is the loser. In other words, if you make a slacker like me do something for someone else, you win. Oh, and if we come to a draw, I win by default. Preposterous! You have a massive advantage in a game like that! Obvi. I made the game, duh. So, are you in? ...You're on. Are you sure about this, Your Highness?! If there's a way to solve this without fighting, I'm going to do it. If I've alienated my friends, it's because of my own failings. And that's why I don't want to fight them. Even if they ARE rebelling against me. There's no take-backs on this, you know. Of course. We can't let this opening go to waste! Follow Daikokuten, everyone! The following day... Zzz... You there, Mitsuhide? *yawn* So, you finally decide what to do with your traitors? Exile? Or maybe you'll cut our heads off and stick 'em on pikes to deter future mutineers? Yeah, I made a decision—but nothing so grave. I'm going to forgive them. Whoa. Y'know, there's being a softie, and then there's...whatever you are. Even if it was only a one-time fluke, you're really going to pardon your allies for betraying you? Just like that? There IS one thing I still need to mull over, though. I've never felt that I was smothering my own desires. But if that's how it came across, then I'd like to rely on others more, and not hesitate to voice my own wants and needs. And then everyone lives happily ever after, huh? And here I thought you'd let it slide. What were you REALLY trying to do? I told you, didn't I? I wanted to occupy your kingdom. If that were true, surely you wouldn't have come alone. Maybe it was a trap to get you to let your guard down. Then it would've just been faster for you to kill me while my guard was down. Why would you—someone so famously averse to putting in effort—go to all the trouble of laying the groundwork you did? I'll tell you why: because your goal was never actually to occupy the kingdom, but to play the Uprising game itself. I really hadn't pegged you as being this perceptive. Bravo. What I don't understand is WHY you wanted to play the game. I can't come to a verdict on you if I don't have a full picture of the situation. Game's over, so I guess there's no harm in letting it slip. My reason was simple. It made me angry to see you breaking your back for other people. It made you ANGRY? Ooh, yeah, hold that pose. The look on your face is priceless. I'm serious about the anger, though. Why did you feel like that? Because living only to serve others makes you lose sight of yourself. I figured you were on your way to becoming an empty shell—like I was, a long time ago. I'm not sure I follow. It'll be hard for you to picture, I'm sure, but I used to be a real goody two-shoes. Huh. Don't believe me, do you? Still, it's the truth. I was as mousy as they come. Unreliable. All I ever did was make others worry. Eventually, my family got together and educated me on how to be a good leader. Everything I did was for my parents— for my family. I pushed myself so hard that I even made a soulpact. But the cost of a soulpact is... It's all good. I wouldn't be the person I am now if I hadn't become a Wyrmclan leader. But anyway, once I made that pact, I realized I couldn't keep giving my life away in service of others. We've all only got one chance at this life. It was then that I decided to forge my own path. And when I looked at you, it made me remember my past—my days spent as an empty husk. I'll be honest, it set me off. That's why I decided to meddle a little. ...... That's the whole truth. Long story short, you were nothing more than a stand-in for my own deep-seated trauma. Knowing that, what's your verdict? Let your heart be your guide. That's exactly what I intend to do. I'll overlook what you've done. Uh, why? Because you made me realize that I shouldn't forget to live for myself as well. My friends' hearts were aching for me.
