Adventurer Story Episodes
The Golden Fiend
Ranzal: Has to be. There's been more people sayin' they've seen it here than anywhere else.
Ranzal: What kinda monster do ya think we're dealin' with, exactly?
Euden: It's hard to say when all we know is that it glitters gold.
Euden: I'd have to see it for myself first.
Ranzal: Good thing Cleo ain't here, or she'd surely have somethin' pithy to say about us divin' into the deep end without look— Wait.
Ranzal: This light... It must be some new type'a fiend!
Euden: It's getting brighter...and brighter... Gaaah!
Malka: What are you doing here?
Ranzal: I'll ask ya the same question!
Ranzal: Guess our golden fiend is just some chump wearin' golden armor!
Euden: I can't say I've ever seen such flashy armor before... Could be he's just flaunting some fresh wealth.
Ranzal: Ya think?!
Ranzal: I can't believe we wasted our time chasin' after some...some nouveau riche enthusiast!
Malka: I can hear you, you know! And this armor is not a result of mere enthusiasm, nouveau riche or otherwise!
Malka: Indeed, this armor is the strongest in the world!
Ranzal: Come again?
Malka: I poured countless years of research and craft into this armor! It is my masterpiece!
Ranzal: Oh yeah?
Ranzal: I dunno. It almost looks better suited for the ballroom than the battlefield.
Ranzal: I mean, come on.
Ranzal: Claimin' some golden armor is the strongest in the world is exactly how ya dupe a naive aristocrat into buyin' it!
Malka: You could not be more mistaken! This armor is meant to save many, many lives!
Euden: Well, there are many different armorers in the world, I suppose...
Euden: If he says it's strong, we might as well let him believe that.
Malka: What?! Hold on a moment! What do you mean by that?!
Malka: Did you understand a single word of what I said?
Euden: Er...yes. Of course I did.
Euden: Anyway, now that we've settled the matter, we must be on our way home—
Malka: Oh, no! I shall not allow you to leave with this misunderstanding still clouding the air between us!
Malka: Am I correct in assuming the giant fellow there is a mercenary in your employ?
Euden: Uh, well...
Malka: Then it is settled.
Malka: My name is Malka. From this moment on, I, too, offer you my services in combat!
Malka: That way, you shall see for yourself that this armor is indeed as capable of protecting people as I claim!
Ranzal: Guess we're stuck with this oddball whether we like it or not.
Euden: Well, I suppose there's no harm in it. He seems good-hearted enough...
Euden: Though he certainly IS odd.
Malka: Let us to battle!
Malka: I shall face whatever forces of evil may lie in wait for us and emerge unscathed in this armor!
Almighty Armor
Cleo: And why must I be present?
Malka: Welcome, welcome.
Malka: Today you shall bear witness to my armor's true worth!
Ranzal: I dunno if we really need to—
Malka: Cleo! Strike at me with your magic!
Cleo: Sorry, what?
Cleo: I must admit, I am more adept using my magic to heal than to harm...
Malka: Enough talk! Strike at me with all of your might!
Cleo: *sigh* Very well, but any injuries are your fault alone... Have at you.
Euden: Malka! Are you all right?!
Malka: Mwahahaha! I am more than all right— as is my armor! Behold! Not a scratch!
Cleo: Remarkable. Most armor has difficulty defending against magical attacks.
Malka: Right you are! Indeed, most armor cannot protect against magic. But my armor is not "most armor"!
Malka: It took many long years, but at last I discovered how to forge armor to withstand magic.
Malka: Gold, my friends; that is the key! Crafting armor with gold significantly increases its magical resistance!
Malka: Hahaha! Do you see? This armor is the strongest in the world! It can protect people from all manner of harm!
Euden: That's incredible, Malka! You truly are a genius armorer.
Ranzal: Hm. It may hold out against magic, but what about...THIS?!
Malka: Wh-what did you do?!
Ranzal: Thought so. Look.
Malka: Gaaah! M-my armor! It is deformed!
Ranzal: On top'a bein' heavy, gold's a soft metal.
Ranzal: Don't take much force to make it cave in like that.
Cleo: You cannot claim this armor protects against all manner of harm when it is really only effective against magic.
Malka: W-well, I am still in the middle of improving the design!
Malka: One day, I will create impenetrable, invincible armor!
Malka: But you! How dare you manhandle my armor? I have had it up to HERE with your barbarity!
Malka: This world has no need of people like you!
Ranzal: Well, can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
Cleo: Was it really necessary for you to attack him like that?
Cleo: You could have easily explained using your words, not your fists.
Ranzal: W-well, I...
Ranzal: I figured he'd learn faster with a...y'know? Practical demonstration?
Malka: Curses! The next one...
Malka: The next one will be impervious to both magical AND physical attacks!
Malka: Mark my words, Ranzal!
The Enraged Artisan
Euden: So the rumors are true: you really are repairing everyone's armor!
Malka: Indeed. For a nominal fee, of course.
Malka: After all, I must fund my research, as well as improvements and repairs for my own armor.
Euden: Even so, you're doing us a great service.
Euden: From what I've heard, everyone is pleased with how thorough you are, and how fast.
Malka: I should say so! I was trained for this, after all—not combat.
Malka: Well, does your armor require repairs as well?
Euden: It does. I took a pretty powerful hit from a fiend a while back.
Euden: Will you take a look at it?
Malka: Let me see... Hmm...
Malka: You treat your armor well. I can tell you look it over yourself each day.
Malka: I am certain you will live to a ripe old age.
Euden: You know all that just by looking at my armor?
Malka: Of course. You can learn much about a person by how they treat their armor.
Malka: *sigh* Now Ranzal, on the other hand...
Euden: What about him?
Malka: ook!
Malka: This is the armor he brought me to repair. It's covered in nicks and scrapes and looks ready to fall apart in my hand!
Malka: And he brings it in for repairs every other day! Every. Other. DAY! As beat up as if I never repaired it!
Malka: He is an insufferable, thickskulled barbarian incapable of the most basic consideration!
Malka: But that isn't the worst of it! Each time I repair his armor, he tells me to put it on his tab!
Euden: ...Pffft. Heh.
Malka: My apologies, Euden... Would you mind if I get to your armor a bit later?
Malka: First I have to take care of that ruffian's repairs...
Malka: Otherwise, I am afraid that poor armor is not much longer for this world...
Euden: Heh. Despite your complaints, you'd still provide him with repairs?
Malka: Not for him! For his abused armor!
Euden: All right, all right. I'll leave you to it, then.
Malka: Your armor is in good hands.
Malka: Honestly... What in the world is Ranzal even doing with his armor?
Malka: At this rate, he is going to end up dead!
Euden: After all is said and done, Malka still worries for the safety of his patrons...
Euden: He really does have a good heart.
The Purpose of Armor
Malka: ugh!
Malka: Hngh... As I suspected, my armor cannot withstand such damage...
Malka: While I am glad for the chance to test my armor in battle...
Malka: Why are these blasted fiends only coming after ME?!
Ranzal: 'Cause yer a giant sparkly target!
Malka: -silence!
Malka: If I am to perfect this armor, I will brave any danger—
Ranzal: Watch out!
Ranzal: Hngh... Hyaaaahhh!
Malka: Are...are you all right, Ranzal?
Ranzal: Yeah. Good thing I had ya repair my armor, or that woulda been it for me.
Ranzal: Come on; there's only a few fiends left! Let's finish 'em!
Malka: R-right. Leave them to me!
Malka: Ranzal, I... Thank you for saving me.
Malka: That said, I cannot abide such reckless behavior! What if that fiend had penetrated your armor?!
Ranzal: Eh, who knows?
Ranzal: What, ya'd rather I do nothin' if I see one'a my friends in danger?
Ranzal: Ain't like my body can't handle a little roughin' up.
Ranzal: So long as I can protect my friends, I don't care about gettin' hurt.
Ranzal: esides...
Malka: Besides what?
Ranzal: Ain't no one else in the castle's as good with armor as you.
Ranzal: So long as yer around, I know I can put my armor through the wringer and it'll be repaired good as new.
Malka: Wh-what a thing to say! Hmph! ...I suppose I ought to thank you.
Malka: And...apologize as well.
Malka: The reason your armor is always in such disrepair is because you constantly protect your friends.
Malka: To think I misjudged how someone felt about their own armor...
Malka: I am sorry I misunderstood you.
Ranzal: What? C'mon, I ain't sayin' anything that deep.
Ranzal: At the end'a the day, armor's disposable. If ya can use it to save—
Malka: t...what?
Malka: How...how dare you call armor "disposable" in my presence? The gall!
Malka: This just proves what a good-for-nothing you really are! I rescind my apology!
The Ultimate in Armor
Malka: Repairs? Again?! How many times must you destroy your armor before you are satisfied?!
Ranzal: H-hey, I'm sorry!
Ranzal: At least yer makin' a nice big profit off'a me, yeah?
Malka: There is no profit to be made from someone with a running tab!
Malka: Honestly, I don't know why I put up with this... Just wait there.
Malka: Here. This time, I took your fighting style into account and made improvements in addition to the normal repairs.
Ranzal: Whoa, that's awesome! I knew you'd sort me out, Malka!
Ranzal: But, uh... How much are the improvements gonna cost me?
Malka: As...thanks for saving me the other day, I will give you a one-time-only discount.
Malka: But promise me!
Malka: Promise me you will not be reckless. Armor cannot protect against everything!
Malka: It...it is my biggest fear.
Malka: I am loathe to see any who wear my armor be hurt—or, heaven forbid, struck down.
Ranzal: .....
Malka: The...the first suit of armor I ever made was for a boy barely old enough to hold a sword upright.
Malka: One day, I set out for the battlefield to repair armor for the army... It was...it was utter desolation.
Malka: The boy's armor was among the suits I was asked to repair.
Malka: It was rent open by a gaping hole, covered in blood...
Malka: That was the work of magic.
Malka: No matter how strong I made my armor, there was nothing I could do to ward it against magic...
Ranzal: That explains all yer research.
Malka: One day, I will make the strongest armor in the world.
Malka: But until then, Ranzal, I beg you: do not be reckless.
Malka: You must value your own life as much as you value anyone else's.
Ranzal: ...All right.
Ranzal: You better hurry up with that armor then, Malka!
Malka: *sigh* Stop hitting the armor already. You do love to express yourself in a violent fash— Hmm?
Malka: Hey! You dented it!
Ranzal: Oh. Uh...sorry?
Ranzal: But that just means there's plenty'a room for improvement!
Malka: Grrr! Fine then! It's time for more research!
Malka: Mark my words, Ranzal! I will make the world's strongest armor! One day!
