Euden: Get back here, you! I need those! *pant* *pant* Okay, the trail leads here... Now where did that little mouse run off t—Huh?!
???: Squeeeak!
Euden: Pia? What are you doing here?
???: WHAAAAT?!
Pia: P-Prince?! What are YOU doing here?!
Euden: That little mouse stole my gloves. I was chasing it to try and get them back.
Pia: Mr. Mouse did that?! Bad mouse! Give those back at once!
Mouse: Squeak...
Pia: I'm very sorry my friend did that to you. I think he was just trying to make you come here because I've been kinda sad.
Mouse: Squeeeak!
Euden: Oh, is that what's going on here? In that case, please, don't worry about it. More importantly, why are you sad? I'm happy to talk with you about it.
Pia: Weeell... See, I have an advancement exam for the choir coming up soon. If it was just singing I'd probably be fine, but I also have to find someone to perform an instrumental accompaniment with me. And I don't know anybody I can ask. When I told Mr. Mouse about all of that, he suddenly took off and found you.
Mouse: Squeeak!
Euden: That's a pretty smart friend you have.
Pia: *sniff* Y-yeah, but it doesn't matter. I'll never be able to pass my stupid test and then I won't advance and...and... Waaaaah!
Euden: Please don't cry, Pia! I'm happy to help you out however I can. And since Mr. Mouse is too small to play an instrument, I guess that means I'll have to do it.
Pia: Y-you will?
Euden: I can actually play the piano a little. I used to take lessons when I was a kid. So let's take that test together!
Pia: You mean it?
Euden: Of course! I wouldn't suggest it otherwise.
Pia: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
Euden: Er...no. I'm not kidding you.
Pia: B-but there's no way I'm good enough to be your partner which means I'll screw up and make you sad and...WAAAAAAAH! *sniff* B-but if I wanna sing, I have to take the test, sooo... Okay, Prince! Please be my partner! I'll work super duper EXTRA hard!
Mouse: Squeak! Squeak squeak squeeeak!
Euden: It's a deal. We should head home and start practicing. Mr. Mouse is welcome, of course—so long as he stops picking my pocket.

Making Music Together
Euden: Whew!
Pia: Phew!
Mouse: Squeak.
Cleo: I've never heard anyone attempt to harmonize a sigh before.
Euden: We're not having much luck with this ensemble performance thing, Cleo. You would think it easy to match singing with an instrument, but it's proving to be surprisingly tricky.
Pia: We just can't seem to stay in rhythm with each other.
Cleo: You do all seem to be at the end of your respective ropes. Perhaps this is a good time for a break? I was actually just bringing you some tea.
Euden: Tea sounds great. And while you're here, let me explain our current problem...
Cleo: ...I see. So every time you perform, one of you ends up out of sync with the other.
Euden: Pretty much. So, um...any ideas?
Cleo: The two of you need to understand each other more.
Pia: We do? Wait. What?
Cleo: Yes. When you're working with someone, you have to know them inside and out before you can be in sync. If you only consider yourself, there's no way you'll be able to perform well with another person. To truly be in sync with your partner, you must understand each other. And on that note, Pia, why don't you ask the prince a question? He'll answer anything you ask him. ...Probably.
Pia: Oh man, pressure. Ummm... Well, Prince, why did you first start playing the piano?
Euden: Hmm. Well... I guess it started when my father made me take lessons. After a while, I figured that since I was learning, I might as well get good enough to put on a performance for him. After all, if you perform for someone, you want them to enjoy it.
Pia: I know exactly what you mean!
Euden: Really?
Pia: Yes. My mother and father both absolutely ADORE music. I started singing so they could enjoy listening to me.
Mouse: Squeeeak!
Euden: Then I guess we have that in common. So, Pia? How do you want to sing? I'd like my playing to be cheerful and energetic, personally.
Pia: That sounds nice. Hmm... I guess what matters most to me is that people enjoy what I'm singing. So I want our performance to be light and bouncy, like birdies singing!
Euden: Heh. That's a great idea.
Pia: R-really?! Yay! Let's try it right now!
Euden: Ready? And a-one, and a-two...
Pia: ...Woooow! That was PERFECT! Don't you think it sounded great?!
Euden: It actually DID remind me of birds singing.
Pia: You give super great advice, Cleo. Thank you so much!
Cleo: I'm happy to help, but don't undersell your role in this; you were the performers, after all, and I found it quite lovely. Good luck in your upcoming test. I'll be rooting for you.
Euden: Let's take this energy and start practicing again. You ready, Pia?

Euden: Easy now, Pia. Calm down. Tell me what happened.
Pia: *sob* M-my test is coming up real soon and...and I'm SCARED!
Euden: But you've been practicing every day.
Pia: That's WHY I'm afraid! I don't wanna put all that work into my exam and then mess it up somehow! You've been doing so much to help me out, but if I make a mistake, it's all for nothing. I can't stop thinking about it. I haven't slept in forever... Anyway, I thought I'd talk to you about it because you're super smart and stuff. But when I got to your door, I...couldn't.
Euden: And that's when Mr. Mouse stepped in?
Mouse: Squeak!
Pia: Ugh, I can't even knock on a DOOR right. I mess everything up!
Euden: That's not true at all.
Pia: Huh?
Euden: Look, Pia. Your problem isn't that you're afraid of messing up and failing. You're just afraid of betraying people's faith in you.
Pia: Ah!
Euden: And believe me, I get it. That's a scary thought. I'm often afraid of the same thing, if I'm being honest.
Pia: But you're always so brave and strong.
Euden: Heh. That's nice of you to say. But that doesn't mean I'm not afraid of failing. Sometimes it's almost paralyzing. But those are the times when I need to be the bravest of all. And that's why you should also be brave.
Pia: ...... Aw, you're amazing, Prince. I can't ever be like you.
Euden: I think you can.
Pia: *sniff* Even though I'm a scaredy-cat who's crying outside your room?
Euden: We're more alike than you know, Pia. Remember how much we both like playing music for people? So if we're alike in that respect, you can easily be as brave as me.
Pia: Hey, yeah! We ARE alike, huh?! Thanks, Prince! I'm gonna be SUPER brave from now on! I'll do it for everyone who believed in me! ...Oh, and for Mr. Mouse, too. It's gonna be scary, but I can't let it get the best of me!
