Summary

As they scale the mountain pass, the prince and his companions find Emile at the mercy of a fiend. Despite their haste—and feelings toward Emile—they decide to intervene.

Dialogue

Luca: Whoa, talk about a view! It makes the entire climb worthwhile.

Luca: I've spent my whole life in the forest and never seen such a sight...

Cleo: *gasp* *pant*

Cleo: Can't talk... Dying...

Ranzal: So here's a question: Why don't we get Mym here to go all dragon on us and fly everybody to the top'a this heap?

Ranzal: Ain't gonna take but two minutes to get up there that way, yeah?

Mym: I beg your pardon?!

Mym: First of all, if I transformed anywhere but Mount Adolla, I would freeze to death.

Mym: Secondly—and FAR more important—I wouldn't deign to carry you if you fell prostrate on your knees and begged!

Ranzal: Sheesh. Dragons're way less convenient than ya'd think.

Mym: Oh, but I'll make an exception for you, darling. You need only to ask.

Mym: In fact, I'd toss you on my back for a romantic flight right this instant if it weren't for the cold.

Notte: Shhh! Everybody shut your pieholes! Someone's coming.

Notte: Over there!

Emile: *pant* Are we STILL not to the summit?

Imperial Soldier: No, Highness. The summit is up there.

Emile: Yes, yes, atop of the mountain. I know what the word MEANS, you dunderhead! I'm asking how much longer it will TAKE.

Emile: Ugh! Enough. We rest here.

Emile: Why must every dragon make its home in the least hospitable place imaginable?

Emile: It is making my life so very difficult, and I do NOT appreciate it!

Euden: Those are Emile's men. ...Blast. We'll have to take the long way around.

Ranzal: Great. Hikin' up more of this mountain is JUST what I wanted.

Ranzal: And why is the peak a big thundercloud? Been wonderin' that awhile now, actually. There ain't a cloud in the sky, 'cept there.

Cleo: That would be the Lightwyrm's influence. The electricity shrouding his body summons storm clouds to him.

Emile: GAH! Bolts of lightning from the blue? That's it—I'll not spend a minute longer in this awful place! I am leaving!

Imperial Soldier: Wait, Your Highness! Take care to keep your distance from the fiend cage!

Emile: AAAAH! The cage is rent open! The chain shattered!

Imperial Soldier: I wonder if that bolt of lightning—

Emile: I DON'T CARE HOW IT HAPPENED! Just hurry up and do something!

Fiend: GRAOOOWR!

Imperial Soldier: Gwaugh!

Fiend: GRRRRR...

Emile: S-stay back, you filthy animal! Kneel before Alberian royalty!

Ranzal: Yeah, this is lookin' bad and gettin' worse in a damn hurry.

Euden: We have to do something. They'll be wiped out otherwise.

Euden: There's little love lost between us, but I won't sit by and watch my brother become some fiend's dinner.

Luca: Fine, we'll go save the filthy cur. How can I help?

Euden: This isn't your fight, Luca—especially after what he did to your village.

Luca: Oh, I know. And it certainly doesn't mean that I've forgiven him.

Luca: But I still wouldn't feel right just letting someone...you know. Die.

Euden: Can't argue with that. Let's go, everyone!
