Another Promise

The history between Askr and Embla is complicated to say the least. The former emperor of Embla sought to bring prosperity to his country by enslaving Heroes, as well as Askr itself. Several years ago, Princess Veronica suddenly declared her intention to follow in her father's footsteps and commenced a new invasion of Askr. My sister once said she might have done it because she was lonely, but I don't know the truth of it. Thank you for telling me all of that. I actually think your sister might not be too far off the mark. Yes, she tried to kill those soldiers, but she doesn't strike me as a bad person, per se. I think she just doesn't know how to make friends. Many of us have long suspected the same. Oh no! Veronica! I fear something ill may have occurred. Come, Prince! We must make haste!

...... Okay, what's going on? I came to Veronica's room in the vain hope of finally cleaning it and found her lying motionless on the floor. Well, she's still breathin' at least. ...Heeey! Can you heeeear me?! ...ry... Hmm? What was that? ...Hungry. What?!

...I'm full now. I'm glad to hear that. But what possessed you to starve yourself for so long? No one brought food to my room. What?! Wait, no. Needs more surprise. ...WHAAAAT?! Food always appears in my room at home. It never did here. Eventually, I was too hungry to move. Ah, I get it. Back in Embla, you have servants who bring you food. *sigh* I thought I was being considerate by leaving her alone to her own devices, but if I had gone in earlier, none of this would have happened. Please do not blame yourself, Cleo. If Princess Veronica was hungry, she had but to tell us so. It's all right to rely on us, Princess, just as you did during the time when you lost your memory. No. We're not fighting now, but I won't owe anything to the prince of another country. Listen, Veronica... What? There are all kinds of people here in this castle, from lots of different classes and backgrounds. But even so, we all have one thing in common... We're all friends. I'm not a prince or a title. I am Euden, just as you're Veronica. Why would you choose not to be a prince? That's strange. You're strange. Stranger than any of the Heroes I've met from other worlds. Oh, he's a strange one, all right. But he's just tryin' to tell you it's okay to be free and live life how you want. Brotherly Love

There you are; all clean. It is a great boon to have such fine horses. Neeeigh! Now I just need to give them all a good brushing and I can... Hmm? ...... What is it, Princess Veronica? I haven't seen him in a while. I wonder where he is...

...This happened a little while ago. She seemed quite lonely as she spoke of her brother—he must have been a very lovely person. Huh. I always thought she seemed like a little sister, but I didn't know she really WAS someone's little sister. It's no surprise she'd be lonely if she hasn't seen her sibling in a while. I know exactly how that feels. Think we can do something to take her mind off it? I mean, we're both older brothers, yeah? And while we can't be her family, we can at least try and help her have fun. I suppose we DID just promise to all be friends... Great! Then let's invite her somewhere.

Why did you bring me outside? 'Cause I wanted to show you all the rare animals that live deep inside the forest! There are loads of cute critters here. ...Hey, look! There's some now! Squeak! But I mostly read magical grimoires. Good enough! See, writing stories is sort of a hobby of mine, so I thought I'd share my latest work with you. Because in that case, it's time for a Triple Brother Offensive! It's true that my sister is younger than I, but... Er... Well, perhaps we could go to town and shop for dresses or sweets. Don't need any. Listen to me. I miss my brother. It makes me sad and lonely. But I don't want any of you to try and take his place. But if you're sad, what can it hurt? But you really SHOULD reconsider, because I will use force if I must. Tsk. What a tedious man you are. I guess I'll do this the hard way.

I should have known my disguise wouldn't last long against you. And here I was hoping your loathing for Alfonse would cloud your judgment. It seems you two have grown closer than I was expecting. How charming! We tried it your way, Loki—now we will try it mine. Come here, Princess, or I will be forced to... Hmm? Hold it right there! What are you doing in this... Er, Princess Veronica? Tsk! MUST I be thwarted at every turn by this pack of pathetic do-gooders?! Ah, but this is actually the PERFECT time for them to arrive, because now we have both princes sitting in front of us! Oh ho!
