Dragon Story Episodes
Moonstruck

Legends say dragon lairs are full of

treasure, and it's true that the

creatures often seek riches as tribute

from humans.

Why are these sacred beasts so

attracted to all that glitters? Some

claim it's because dragons once

lived among the twinkling stars.

Dragons alighted upon this land

many eons ago, yet objects that

remind them of their ancient home

still bring them solace.

Whether or not this is true, no one

knows—not even the dragons

themselves.

Many years ago, a hatchling sought

to verify the claim that dragons came

from beyond the heavens, and so

set out to see them for himself.

Still, just because he had wings didn't

mean he was able to reach the stars.

The hatchling had many friends, and

they flocked to watch his attempts.

So he gathered them up, pointed

skyward, and said, "We'll get there

together!"

The hatchling gathered his friends

and devised a plan: they would all

ride on each other's shoulders, and

the one on the bottom would fly as

high as possible.

When that hatchling grew tired, he'd

break off and let the next one take

over. That way, the last hatchling

would be able to reach the stars.

His plan worked. And when the

hatchling saw the canopy of stars,

he let out an exalted cry.

But he had made one miscalculation:

because he was flying at full speed,

there was no way to stop.

With a mighty yelp, he collided right

into the moon. And that is why,

to this day, the craters on the moon

form the shape of a dragon.

Many versions of this tale have been

told all over southern Grastaea.

Scholars dismiss it as nothing more

than a myth, and yet the story gives

children cause to dream of the wider

world around them.
