Episode 1

Amane, Child of Miracles

Ranzal: Got a minute, Euden?

Euden: What is it?

Ranzal: Well, it's... Look, just c'mere. It's easier to show ya.

Euden: What's gotten into him...?

Cleo: As I have said already, I cannot allow you to enter the castle.

Amane: Why? Why are you sheltering dragons?! You court disaster! Those abominations ought to be eradicated!

Cleo: Nothing you say will change my mind!

Euden: What's going on, Cleo? Who is this girl?

Cleo: Ah, Euden. She keeps insisting we let her see the Windwyrm.

Amane: You're Euden, yes? The one pactbound with dragons? My name is Amane! I am the child of miracles, and I seek a world free from the terror of dragons!

Cleo: I have heard of her. She hails from a small nation that wishes to wipe all dragons from existence. If I recall correctly, a dragon attacked her home when she was young, leaving her as the sole survivor.

Euden: Is that why they call her the child of miracles? That's quite a burden to bear at such a young age.

Amane: Do not treat me as a child! I am 24 years old, and a woman grown!

Euden: What?! Y-you are? Um...I'm...sorry?

Amane: You should be! Now, back to the matter at hand. Which was... Ah! Right! Dragons are terrible creatures that bring death and destruction wherever they go. Which is why, once I heard this castle harbored dragons, I decided to journey here and learn their weakness!

Ranzal: Oh, yeah? Well, why didn't ya say so? Just wait right here—I'll go grab the red carpet. We roll it out every time someone comes 'round threatenin' to kill our allies.

Amane: Such lackluster sarcasm will not deter me! I can see you have thrown your lot in with the dragons after all. I will sit right here and wait until I am allowed entry, no matter how long it takes!

Cleo: Brave words, but are you sure you're prepared to follow through? I advise you return home before trouble befalls you.

Amane: All I care about is learning the dragons' weakness! I will be fine! ...Probably!

Cleo: *sigh* What a nuisance... What say you, Euden?

Euden: ...All right. If you're that determined, you can come inside.

Ranzal: H-hey, hold on! Ya can't be serious! If she does anything to Midgardsormr—

Euden: Some dragons are as terrible as she says. But Midgardsormr is not one of them. Perhaps she'll learn that there are decent dragons, too, given the chance to meet one herself. And as far as I can tell, she seems like a very straightforward person. I have a feeling things will work themselves out once they talk.

Cleo: I wish I could share your confidence. But I will respect your decision.

Euden: All right, Amane. Come in and let me give you a tour of the castle.

Amane: At last! This is the first step to ridding this world of dragons!

Episode 2

Amane's Wishes

Amane: A-ha! There you two are! You cannot avoid me forever! Now, out with it! Tell me the dragons' weakness!

Euden: Nothing has changed since we talked about all of this yesterday, Amane. We don't know their weakness.

Amane: Just tell me something! Anything! Anything to help me destroy them!

Ranzal: Y-ya know what? I just remembered that Cleo asked me to help with somethin'. Gotta run!

Euden: Ranzal! *sigh* There's no way Cleo would ever ask him for help.

Amane: Tell me, Euden!

Euden: Here's an idea, Amane... Maybe instead of destroying the dragons, you could learn more about each oth—

Amane: This again? I am sick of hearing such a ridiculous proposition! Perhaps I must change my approach. If you refuse to tell me anything, then I will go ask Cleo!

Euden: Uh, I wouldn't bother her while she's cooking if I were... *sigh* And she's gone.

Amane: *siiigh*

Euden: You wandered all over the castle again today, didn't you?

Amane: And with nothing to show for it! I was so certain I would find something here to help me rid this world of dragons.

Euden: Can I ask you something? Are you doing this because you're the ＂child of miracles＂? Or is it because you want revenge on the dragon that destroyed your home?

Amane: Are you asking if I do this out of hatred? That may be part of it, but it is not that simple, either. My country is full of people like me. People who lost everything to dragons. Our lovers, our parents, our children... My country is one of survivors.

Euden: ......

Amane: We do not wish for anyone else to experience the horrors we have endured.

Euden: Then it isn't hatred that drives you to destroy the dragons, but compassion.

Amane: Yes. Though as you can see, I've had no results. But I will not give up! If one person does not have the answer, then I will ask 10! If those 10 do not know, I will ask one hundred! I will not stop until I find what I seek! Now, I must continue the search! Ranzal is surely done helping Cleo by now!

Ranzal: Oh, Amane... Sorry, I've, uh, got some things to get in order for breakfast tomorrow—

Amane: You always have something you have to take care of! Just sit right there. You and I are going to have a nice long chat!

Euden: She clearly won't be dissuaded. What are we going to do...?

Episode 3

The Windwyrm's Game

Amane: Yes! That's it! Why did I not think of this sooner?!

Euden: Think of what?

Amane: If I want to know what a dragon's weakness is, I should just ask the dragon!

Euden: I'm not sure that's such a great idea.

Cleo: I highly doubt he would tell you his own weakness.

Ranzal: Yeah, he's more likely to send ya flyin' than give ya any answers.

Amane: Hmph. I will never know unless I try! I cannot allow dragons to hurt anyone else! Gaaahhh!

Ranzal: Told ya.

Euden: Are you all right, Amane?

Amane: ...I am fine. I was not blown back too far. But it was worth it, because now I know!

Euden: What? Midgardsormr actually told you his weakness?

Amane: Yes! He did! He said his weakness is food that humans cannot get enough of!

Cleo: ...Pardon?

Amane: Apparently, anything that tastes good to people is poisonous to dragons. I must practice all of the culinary arts. Lend me your kitchen at once!

Cleo: The Windwyrm surely lied to her.

Euden: I doubt the thought even crossed her mind. She's so straightforward herself, it's easy to fool her.

Amane: At last! I have made something delicious! Now I just need to feed this to the dragon...

Cleo: You have made...something, all right. Though what this violet concoction is supposed to be, I do not know.

Amane: Considering this is the first time I have ever made anything, it turned out great! Also, taste counts more than presentation.

Euden: Amane, I really don't think Midgardsormr's weakness is food.

Amane: What? But he told me himself!

Euden: Yes, well, I'm fairly certain he was... You know? Joking?

Amane: He...he lied to me? Dragon! I will have you tell me your true weakness! Gaaahhh!

Ranzal: She never learns, does she? Girl's got guts though, I'll give 'er that.

Cleo: Do not just stand there singing her praises! Go help the fool! Who knows how far he will send her flying this time?

Euden: I have to wonder what Midgardsormr thinks of her...

Episode 4

Nothing at All

Amane: Gaaahhh!

Midgardsormr: You never learn, child. How many times must I send you away on the wind before you are satisfied?

Amane: *pant* *pant* As...as many as it takes... Until you tell me your weakness, I will not stop!

Midgardsormr: And yet I have told you already. My weakness is having my tail polished.

Amane: The only thing polishing your tail will do is make it clean! That's another lie, isn't it?!

Euden: What's going on, Midgardsormr? You look pleased with yourself.

Midgardsormr: Humans like her are tolerable. If only they could all be so direct and pure of heart.

Euden: So you like Amane, huh?

Amane: The Windwyrm...likes me? Impossible! That cannot be! My home... My family... I lost everything! That abomination destroyed my life!

Euden: But that wasn't Midgardsormr. He wasn't even—

Midgardsormr: There is no need to defend me, Euden. I am indeed detestable. One beat of my wings whips up tempests; one roar flattens all before me. My kind is born with great power. There are those among us who see your ilk as weaklings to rule over. And I look no different from them. It is only natural that one who has lost everything to my kin would see me as an outlet for revenge.

Euden: ......

Amane: ......

Midgardsormr: I have nothing more to say. Leave this place now, before I summon gales to carry you away.

Euden: Are you all right, Amane? You look a little green around the gills.

Amane: I...I cannot think straight.

Euden: Because of what Midgardsormr said?

Amane: I lost everything to a dragon... If I do nothing, this world will drown in the tears of those who suffer similar tragedies. I cannot let that happen. The dragons must be destroyed. And yet... Speaking with the Windwyrm... When he laughs, or gets angry... It feels like...like he is just like us. Just like a human. I think... I think it's not just his weakness I'm missing. I don't know anything about him at all.

Euden: Then you ought to keep talking to him. To better understand him.

Amane: You're right. I need to learn more. Their personalities, their weaknesses... And just who they truly are.

Episode 5

The Child's Ambition

Midgardsormr: What troubles you, child? Normally you'd have asked of my weakness 10 times over by now.

Amane: I do not understand you, Windwyrm.

Midgardsormr: Oh?

Amane: You are not like the vile monster that destroyed my home... Or so I believe. But it was still a dragon that inflicted such death and destruction. I cannot forgive your kind. I am at a loss as to what to do...

Midgardsormr: ...Our scales are imperfect. There is a single scale on the body of every dragon that is the wrong way around. That is our weakness.

Amane: Wait... What?! Why would you tell me that?!

Midgardsormr: Pure impulse. Now, what will you do? Attempt to kill me?

Amane: But... You... I...

Euden: Amane? Is something wrong?

Amane: I have learned the Windwyrm's weakness. And now I can slay him. But there's something else I learned... We may look different on the outside, but a heart beats inside us all. Were I to destroy him, I would be no better than the monster that destroyed my home. But I am the child of miracles. I know not what to do...

Euden: Well, why not protect both?

Amane: Both what?

Euden: Both kinds. Dragons and humans. You can create a world where no one ever suffers because of dragons, and you can do it without destroying them. I know you can. You're the child of miracles, after all.

Amane: Heh... Ha ha ha! I AM, aren't I? Come. Let's return to the Windwyrm. Windwyrm! I have made my decision! I no longer seek to destroy you! I want us to build the future together!

Midgardsormr: Oh? Are you certain? My kind may not ever stop attacking yours.

Amane: I said I decided! I will end people's suffering without destroying you! If there are still those of your kind who would harm humans, then I will handle them myself! It's settled!

Midgardsormr: You think you can ＂handle＂ dragons? Ha ha ha! You are amusing, child! But if you are truly intent on such a preposterous course of action, I suppose I shall have to watch over you myself.

Amane: Indeed I am! And to mark this occasion, I shall do you the honor of designating you as my friend.

Midgardsormr: ......

Amane: Gaaahhh!
