Dragon Story Episodes
The Prince of Twilight

In a village on the edge of Grastaea

lived two friends: a boy and a young

dragon. Their heroes were Alberia's

royal family and the dragons to

whom they were pactbound.

The young dragon, a daydreamer

with a tendency to show off, told the

boy countless fantasies—among

them a tale that he was known as

the "prince of twilight."

...And that he was part of an

immortal cursed dragon's soul,

reborn from eternal darkness.

...And that Grastaea would be

plunged into chaos when his true

power awoke, which is why he'd

been trapped in a small body in

order to suppress his abilities.

Impressed by the young dragon's

stories, the boy started to dream up

a fitting legend for himself.

Using an iron pot for a crown,

he claimed to be a reincarnation of

Alberius the Founder—which meant

he and his dragon friend had been

inseparable even in their past lives.

They passed the days playing heroes

in a secret fort they had built deep in

the mountains.

The boy and the dragon told their

stories to the villagers, who listened

with patient smiles on their faces.

They were charmed by the children's

silly make-believe.

Travelers who happened to overhear,

however, took it differently. Half

convinced by what they heard, they

brought rumors of the boy and the

dragon to neighboring towns.

An empty throne had recently caused

concern over the dynasty's collapse,

and rumors of the last king's

illegitimate children launched people

into a frenzied search for his heir.

Many claimed to be the king's

illegitimate child, of course—but

there was only one with a dragon.

A nefarious group of kidnappers set

their sights on the boy. They didn't

care about the royal bloodline—only

that they could ransom him for a

handsome sum.

And so the kidnappers came to the

village. The boy and the dragon,

lost in their daydreams of heroism,

had no reason to suspect they were

in great danger.

Having heard rumors of the boy with

a dragon, a group of kidnappers

came to the village. They found their

secret fort at once and made off

with the child.

The young dragon came flying at the

sound of the boy's pathetic cries.

"Get your filthy hands off of him!"

he cried as courage flowed through

his veins.

"Oy, I never seen a dragon before!"

snarled one of the kidnappers.

"Didn't know they were so tiny.

And look how it's shakin'! Ya

scared'a humans, little dragon?"

The dragon was, in truth, terrified,

but he swallowed his fear and said,

"Only fools dare set foot into the

prince of twilight's domain."

"I am the cursed dragon reborn.

I can call forth an army of undead

with but a word."

"They eat the souls of the living!

They'll bang their swords against

their shields and grin their skeletal

sneer as they bring you back to the

underworld as trophies!"

"Cor!" cried a thug. "Y-Yer bluffin'!"

"Am I?" replied the dragon.

The dragon and the kidnappers

locked gazes. Then one of the

kidnappers stepped on the

royal crown—the iron pot—as it

lay upon the ground.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The kidnappers jumped into the air

at the cacophony, then skittered

away like the rats they were.

Out from the cart they'd left behind

came all the other children they had

stolen, who shouted and whooped

for joy. They were free!

And that is how the boy and the

dragon became real-life heroes.
