Episode 1

Allies, Not Friends

During their battles in the Askran Kingdom, Alfonse and his allies suddenly found themselves whisked away to another world. After meeting the prince and his friends, they immediately set about searching for a way home, using the Halidom as a base. It seems we aren't finding any useful leads on the gate today, either. Prince of Askr - Alfonse Indeed—though we did the best we could. Princess of Ice - Fjorm While we tarry here, our homes may be in grave danger. We must return as soon as we possibly can. Altean Prince - Marth We need a plan, and yet nothing will come to me... If you guys keep moping around like this, someone's gonna play a sad trombone noise every time you say something. Yeah, turn those frowns upside-down! I suppose you're right. We just have to keep our chins up and keep searching. Don't worry—we'll help however we can. Hey, bubs! We know ya been poundin' the streets all day lookin' for a way home, so we went and made a special dinner for ya. A special dinner? For us? Consider it yer welcome party, yeah? It is during truly difficult times when food and fellowship are most important. Now please join us in the dining hall. Thank you, everyone.

I had NO idea you were such a big shot, Marthy! ...Mind if I call ya Marthy? Indeed, his exploits are so legendary, they earned him the title of Hero-King. A moniker I do not deserve; all I have done is fight at the side of my friends. Aw, stow the modesty! If I'd done half the things you did, I'd walk around with my chest puffed out like a balloon! His modest nature is likely what allowed him to achieve all he did—a lesson you would be wise to heed. Urk... ...... You seem awfully serious tonight, Alfonse. I was just thinking about how your army acts more like a group of friends than a traditional fighting unit. As far as I'm concerned, we ARE friends— and that friendship also extends to you. Do you not feel the same way about us? My apologies, but no. The forming of friendships is a thing I don't take lightly. It's true that I rely on the assistance of Heroes summoned from different worlds when fighting, but that is wholly different. Marth is one of the Heroes called to your world by your summoner, right? That's right. He and all the other Heroes fight at our side in battle—which is both reassuring and greatly appreciated. And while I trust them implicitly, that isn't the same thing as friendship. So the Heroes you fight with are allies, but not friends? Correct. Also, I imagine this is something you will understand as well, but... The more you care for something, the more painful it is to lose it. I have a duty, and can't afford such hurt. So if I grow close to someone, I do so accepting the potential consequences. I understand how you feel—and I'm certainly not going to force a friendship on you if it isn't what you want. Thank you for understanding. ...Oh, and for the wonderful food. Are you finished eating? Yes. For now, there is something I need to investigate. If you will excuse me? He's a very serious and cautious young man, isn't he? Even when it comes to friendships. Yes—although it makes me a bit sad. I can only imagine it does, given your own personality. It's not that I think he's WRONG, per se. It's just that... I mean... I see no harm in trying to become his friend, if that is what you want. He may think differently from us, but he doesn't seem opposed to our presence. I just hope I can convince him to become friends eventually...

Episode 2

Differences

All right, we're almost there! Er, and where are we going again? To the sylvan village where I'm from! You said there are no sylvans in Askr, yeah? So I want you to learn everything you can about us. And I want everyone in the village to learn all they can about YOU! Ain't often I get to become friends with a prince from another world, after all. Er, actually... ...Hmm? What was that noise? It sounded like the flapping of enormous wings. A dragon, perhaps? Dragons are sacred creatures in this world, are they not? Yes. Alberian royals form pacts with them. The concept of being able to shapeshift into a dragon after forming a pact is a fascinating one indeed. Since we first came to this world, it's been one surprise after another. That may be why I'm starting to feel pangs of nostalgia for my own home... Strange, isn't it? Yes. While it's important for us to learn more about this world while we're here, our ultimate goal is to find our way back. We must stay focused on that task and— Aaaaah! The hell was that?! It came from that way. Let's go!

Haaaaalp! Get out of here! Leave this to us! Th-thank you! Ugh... There's so many... It's nothing we can't handle. Luca and Ranzal, go left. Cleo and Elisanne, flank right. Right! You draw their attention, Ranzal! I'll take 'em all out with my bow! You got it! I have your back Elisanne—you may proceed to do your thing. With pleasure. Haaaah! Screeeee! Look how brilliantly they fight together... THIS is the true power of a bond...

Okay, that's the last of them. Good job, everyone! I feel as though we barely contributed. There were so many fiends, yet they made the task look like nothing. Working together allows the whole to fight better than the individual. And at the center of it all stands Prince Euden. Perhaps there is something to his notion of friendship after all...

Episode 3

The Two Princes

Prince Alfonse? What are you doing? Writing up all we have discovered in our investigation thus far. Dude, that is a LOT of writing. I'm getting dizzy...just...reading... Uuuurgh... Are you all right, Notte? Whew! That coulda been bad. Thanks for catching me before I ended up as a floor pancake. You're a real prince! Actually, I am a prince by the basic definition of the word—the prince of Askr. No duh, Captain Literal. I'm just saying that you also act the part. You're smart and tough and cool and stuff. You're not really like our prince at all. Still your tongue, Notte! His Highness is a wonderful individual! Easy there, girl! I'm not talkin' smack! It's just that Alfonse seems more... you know? Regal and junk. I suppose His Highness IS unusually personable for royalty. Right? He's more like a regular dude. He even got scolded for sneaking off to go for a walk about town! Ha ha ha! But that's a good thing, because it lets him understand how us common peasants feel. I'm not certain I'd call myself a peasant, but we are all proud of His Highness. He must be honored to be spoken of so highly by his vassals. He seems an upstanding individual— both as a man and a ruler.

Haaah! *pant* *pant* All right, I think that's enough training for today. Hmm?! That was quite the display of swordsmanship. I didn't notice you there, Prince Alfonse. That is concerning. Training is important, but so is being aware of your surroundings. You are in charge of this castle, after all. Though it seems that relaxed nature is part of the reason your people hold you in such esteem. Er...okay? Where's this coming from? I was speaking of you with some of your vassals today; it is clear how much they all admire you. Well, I'm glad to hear that—but I still have a lot of room for improvement. I don't have the aura of a prince in the way that you do, for example. Everyone describes me that way, but I'm not certain I fit the mold of a typical highborn noble. You certainly seem that way to me. Hmm... I've not yet spoken to you about the Order, have I? No, I don't think so. The Order of Heroes is a group that fights to protect the peace of Askr. I was determined to join, and so I did. I'm surprised the people around you were okay with that. Oh, I met resistance—from my father in particular. But this was simply something that mattered to me more than having everyone's approval. I know exactly how you feel. I imagine you must, seeing as you're a prince who fights on the front lines. Heh. Perhaps we're more similar than I first imagined. Quite. In fact, just speaking with you reminds me of an old friend back in Askr. ...I miss him terribly. I hope you can find your way home and see him again soon. Alas, even if I do find a way home, I fear that will never happen. Why not? He is a former member of the Order, and a very close friend. But...his situation is complicated. He could stay with us no longer. I'm sorry to hear that. It's all right. No matter how far apart we are, I'll never forget him—in that way, we will always remain connected. But the more you value someone... ...the more it hurts when you lose them. Having suffered terrible losses myself, I know well the truth of that statement. Losing my family was the worst pain I've ever experienced, but I'd still take it over never having known them at all. I imagine you feel the same about your former friend. Bonds of friendship aren't things to be cast aside easily once they're forged. I suppose you're right. The two of us are from different worlds, so the time will eventually come when we have to part. But I can't help but feel I'd be happy to call myself your friend.

Episode 4

Don't Let Go

Raaaagh! If we don't defeat this thing quickly, it's going to send us flying! We picked a lousy foe to run into when the footin' is this bad! Oh no... I'm losing my balance! Take my hand! Thanks! Raaaaagh! N-no! I'm going to fall! Aaaaah! Your Highness! Prince Alfonse!

Nnngh... Wh-where are we? I remember us falling over that cliff, and then... Wait, where is Alfonse? I'm right here. Thank goodness! Are you all right? Not quite—I've hurt my foot, which is making walking difficult. I suggest you leave me behind and go on alone. That is NOT going to happen. Here, climb on my back. I don't think that's wise. We might run into fiends or imperial soldiers on the way out. If that happens, I will only be a burden. It makes more sense for you to go on alone and return with aid. I'm not doing that. We don't even know where we ARE, which means we have no idea how long it'll take for help to come. You are an individual who can—and should—change the world around him. I can't allow someone like that to be hurt—or worse—in an effort to save someone not even from this world. I could say the same to you! You have a goal you need to accomplish in your own world, right? Well, that means I can't let any harm come to you in mine. Especially since you're the one who rescued me when I was almost sent flying. You saved my life, Alfonse. Let me return the favor. Besides, I'm not going to let anything happen to you OR me. You'll just have to trust me on that. Now let's get going already.

*pant* Let's stop and rest here for a bit. My apologies again for burdening you, Prince Euden. ...Are you always like this? Like what? You are responsible for the future of this entire country, yet you chose the most dangerous course of action. If the most dangerous course of action also happens to be the best, I don't have a problem with that. This might be a bit irresponsible to say, but the title of "prince" doesn't really matter to me. Even with the title, I'm still a person— and people all have their own wishes and ways of thinking. The only thing I care about is that everyone lives in peace and happiness. Hmm. All this time, I was thinking we had little in common. But now— Wait. I hear footsteps! Well, look who we have here... What's the imperial army doing here?! We heard the traitorous prince lost his footing and fell from a cliff, and have been searching for you ever since. To be frank, the rumor sounded inane; what kind of prince falls off a CLIFF? Yet here you are—and your head will make a fine decoration for our castle gate! We have to run, Alfonse! Aaah ha ha! Do you honestly think you can escape us with that sack of potatoes draped across your back? Seize them, men! Don't damage the head of the prince, but do whatever you like to this other one! I won't let you touch him! Haaaah! Urk! Haaah! Blast... There's no end to them! Such a shame to see a beautiful friendship like yours ended so soon... Aaaah ha ha! Haaaah! Ugh... Say farewell, dog! (I'm done for!) Prince Euden! (I'm...not done for?) Prince Alfonse! Urk... Did you really just tackle a man in the middle of swinging his weapon? You must really wanna die! In that case, I'm happy to oblige! Alfonse! Guys! You came! We've been searchin' for ya for ages! But this lets us make a kick-butt entrance to save the day, so I'm good with it. Damn! Reinforcements! Showing up in times of need is what friends do, right? Now let's get 'em! Bwaa ha ha! C'mere, you! Haaah!

We don't stand a chance... Retreat! Hell yeah! We won! We've been walking from our original location for hours. How did you find us? Easy—we just sent everybody in the entire castle out to look for you! It is a good thing we made it in time. Stay still, Alfonse. I'll heal you. Are you all right, Alfonse? I can't believe you tried to tackle an armed man. Why would you do something so incredibly reckless?! You're one to talk about recklessness. Besides, it was a calculated risk—though one with admittedly low odds of success. I simply couldn't stand the thought of losing someone important to me. Thank you for saying that— and thank you for saving me. Thank you ALL for saving me. I've been blessed with great friends. Now I just need to get stronger, so we can all make a world where everyone is happy.

Episode 5

As Friends

C'mon, Alfonse! Time for some sparrin'! I will be happy to serve as your opponent. Then let's do this thing. Begin! Raaaah! Haaaah! Whoa, these folks are fired UP! They sure are. I'll have to join in later.

Got you! Huh? Aaaargh! We have a winner! Alfonse takes it! Serves me right for bein' careless. A moment's carelessness can cost your life on the battlefield. Mind if I join in, guys? Not at all. I was hoping for a chance to cross swords with you. Alfonse is top of the ranks right now, so knock him down a peg or three, Euden! A battle between princes? Now THIS is excitin' stuff! ...Oh, and no pressure, but the good name of our entire world is on the line here, Euden. If you raise the stakes that high, Ranzal, we'll be too tense to fight. I agree. I think we should leave both our countries and social standing aside in this match and simply focus on— There you are, Prince Alfonse! Prince Marth has been looking for you. He found an old text that might aid our search. Excellent! I will be there at once. ...I'm sorry, Prince, but our battle will have to wait until another time. Sounds like they may have a clue about how to get home. I keep forgettin' they'll go back to their own world one day. No need to make it sound like a bad thing when it's what they want, yeah? Yeah, I know. But now that we're friends, it's gonna be hard to say good-bye. I know what you mean. But AS friends, we need to wish for their happiness and not just think of our own. We have to believe we'll still be close even when we're apart.

Haaaaaaah! *pant* *pant* ...Hmm? Ah, I thought I sensed someone, but I didn't know it was you, Alfonse. My apologies for the intrusion. However, it's good to see you paying more attention to your surroundings now. Heh. You taught me the error of my ways. Anyway, what brings you here? I was hoping to find you training. We never got a chance to finish the match we started earlier. I'm not sure either of us would have been truly comfortable going all-out in front of the others given our positions, but now that we're alone, we need not hold back. So let's fight—and do so as friends. I'd be happy to. Begin!

*pant* *pant* You really are incredible... I could say the same. In fact, I was so focused on your flawless technique that I almost lost my edge. Perhaps we should stop here for the nonce, however. ...Goodness, look at the stars. They're so beautiful. What's the night sky like in your world? The positions of the stars are different, but they radiate the same beauty. It just makes me want to return home all the more. I hope you can. Although it saddens me that we won't see each other again after that. I've prepared myself mentally for it, but it's still unfortunate. We may yet meet again. But I thought... It depends on the structure of the gate, but the idea isn't an impossibility. Who knows? We may even find ourselves able to travel between our worlds freely. You mean we could visit Askr? I'd love that. If it happens, I will be happy to show you around and introduce you to my sister. I really hope I can do that some day. But even if we can't meet again, we're friends now. You know it!
